Job summary

Burke Aerospace is seeking an experienced machinist to operate EDM and CNC equipment and other related machinery. You will edit programs and adjust methods to meet blueprints, ensure accurate feeds/speeds, and inspect parts to specification.

The role requires clean paperwork, proper safety practices, and collaboration with teammates to resolve issues promptly. The position emphasizes maintaining a safe, organized work area, training others, and adhering to lean/continuous improvement

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 4+ years in a manufacturing or warehouse environment.
• 2+ years operating EDM, CNC, CMM or related equipment.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and Manufacturing ERPs (Job Boss).

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate EDM/CNC machines and related equipment with existing programs and methods.
• Edit and adjust processes to meet work orders and blueprint specs.
• Apply feeds, speeds and tool knowledge to achieve quality parts.
• Inspect dimensional features as required and ensure quality output.
• Complete paperwork accurately for counts, scrap, time, etc.
• Maintain neat work area and perform operator maintenance tasks.
• Train and assist other employees as needed.
• Proactively resolve process or system problems with team coordination.
• Comply with OSHA, health, safety, and environmental requirements.

Job description

Summary

The machinist is responsible for effective and efficient operation of EDM, CNC and other machines on a continuous basis including identification and resolution of issues to maintain production output requirements of the business unit.

Responsibilities

• Setup and operates EDM/CNC machines and other related equipment where programs, fixtures, and methods have been developed.
• Makes all edits and adjustments as required to produce parts to work orders/blueprint specifications/sketches.
• Demonstrates a working knowledge of feeds and speeds and a working knowledge of cutting tools and their application.
• Inspects work as required for all dimensional features as required.
• Produces quality and quantity of work in accordance with Company requirements.
• Responsible for accurately completing paperwork relating to counts, scrap, time, etc.
• Performs duties always exercising good machining practices.
• Maintains area, equipment, and tooling in a neat, orderly condition including operator maintenance sheets.
• Trains, guides, and assists other employees as required.
• Taking a proactive approach to solving process or system related problems and coordinating with other team members/departments when necessary for resolution of problems
• Comply with OSHA, health, safety, and environment requirements.
• May be assigned to carry out tasks, not specifically listed, within the scope and skill level of this job description in support of department objectives and to develop individual’s skills.

Requirements

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.

Physical Requirements

Medium work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

The worker may be required to move, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, stand, walk, push, pull, lift, finger, grasp, feel, talk, hear, and/or complete repetitive motions during course of work.

Visual Requirements

The worker is required to have visual acuity to perform an activity such as: operating machines such as lathes, drill presses, power saws and mills where the seeing job is at or within arms reach; performing mechanical or skilled trades tasks of a non-repetitive nature such as ones by carpenters, technicians, service people, plumbers, painters, mechanics, etc.

Environmental Conditions

The worker is subject to inside environmental conditions: Protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes.

The worker is subject to noise: There is sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout in order to be heard above the ambient noise level.

The worker is subject to vibration: Exposure to oscillating movements of the extremities or whole body.

The worker is subject to hazards: Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals.

The worker is subject to atmospheric conditions: One or more of the following conditions that affect the respiratory system of the skin: Fumes, odors, dusts, mists, gases or poor ventilation.

The worker is subject to oils: There is air and/or skin exposure to oils and other cutting fluids.
