Job summary

Surmodics is seeking a Technician 2 to manufacture products per SOPs in a GMP-compliant, controlled environment. You will support manufacturing and maintain raw material inventories while training staff and maintaining equipment.

The role emphasizes accurate documentation, adherence to SOPs, and a proactive approach to maintenance and process improvements within a clean facility.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in a laboratory technology field or 2+ years of production experience as an Operator/Technician

Responsibilities

• Manufacture product per SOP as directed by the production planner
• Prepare and submit samples to the QC department
• Ensure adherence to GMP guidelines for reagent manufacturing
• Transfer and issue consumed raw materials to batches via the MRP system
• Maintain production and accounting forms
• Review batch records for GMP/GDP compliance
• Monitor inventory of raw materials
• Train production personnel on relevant processes and procedures
• Monitor inventory of general laboratory supplies
• Maintain laboratory equipment and document maintenance
• Oversee routine housekeeping of the production area
• Keep equipment on a preventative maintenance schedule
• Perform monthly and annual preventive maintenance

Job description

The Technician 2 is expected to manufacture a limited number of products in accordance with supplied Standard Operating Procedures, adhering to Good Manufacturing Practices, in a clean, controlled environment. Maintaining accurate raw material inventories and adhering to the Quality Policy. Understanding a wide range of product manufacture, training new hires and being proficient in the maintenance of key equipment.

Responsibilities

Manufacturing (75%)

• Manufacture product per SOP as directed by the production planner
• Prepare and submit samples to the appropriate QC department
• Ensure adherence to GMP guidelines for reagent manufacturing

Support Manufacturing (15%)

• Transfer and issue consumed raw materials to batches via the MRP system
• Maintain thorough, up-to-date production & accounting forms
• Review completed batch records for GMP/GDP compliance
• Monitor inventory of raw materials
• Train production personnel on relevant process and procedures

Efficient & Organized Environment (10%)

• Monitor inventory of general laboratory supplies
• Maintains laboratory equipment and document daily/weekly maintenance activities
• Oversee the routine housekeeping of the production area, cleaning process equipment, etc.
• Keeping equipment on a preventative maintenance schedule
• Perform monthly and annual preventive maintenance

Minimum Qualifications

• Associate degree in a laboratory technology field (i.e. Chemistry, Biology) or 2+ years of production experience as an Operator/Technician (or equivalent)
• Organizational and documentation skills
• Good interpersonal skills and an ability to take work direction
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Computer skills appropriate for work responsibilities
