Job summary

Surmodics is seeking a temporary Medical Device Coatings Technician III in Horsham, PA for a 10-month assignment on 2nd shift (Mon-Thurs, 2:00pm–12:30am). You will operate coating processes, prepare devices, and ensure compliance with GMPs and SOPs while contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.

The role requires a high school diploma and 4+ years in manufacturing or process development, with strong technical and documentation skills. This is a hands-on position located in Horsham, PA.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• Experience in a technical discipline with 4+ years in manufacturing, process development or production preferred.
• Critical skills include mixing materials, reading and understanding product specs and SOPs, operating manufacturing machines, measuring and inspecting materials and documenting activities.
• Ability to set up and perform physical test methods for coated and uncoated devices.
• Ability to prioritize and complete tasks accurately under pressure.
• Detail oriented and highly organized with strong written and oral communication.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and use MS Office tools.

Responsibilities

• Lead coating production to GMPs, specs, SOPs and instructions.
• Prepare devices for production and perform coating procedures.
• Set up coating stations to device specs and load/unload products.
• Monitor device movements, verify processing accuracy and program.
• Create finished labels and packaging for devices.
• Troubleshot equipment and maintain clean, ISO-compliant work area.
• Write coating procedures and work instructions; manage batch records.
• Record materials and solutions used; archive documentation.
• Engage in continuous improvement and cross-functional support.
• Provide guidance to technicians during coating production.

Job description

Surmodics Services & Technologies is committed to providing the best in developing, manufacturing, and applying coatings on medical devices.We are looking for a temporary (approximately 10 months) Medical Device Coatings Technician III associate to take our manufactured coating and apply it to medical devices using a machine process. This associate would be required to follow all safety guidelines to complete the detailed coating steps. This is a 2nd shift, 10-hour a day role, Monday through Thursday, 2:00pm-12:30am, located in Horsham, PA.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead medical device coating production to ensure processes are conducted according to GMP’s, customer specifications, company SOP’s and work instructions

• Prepare medical devices for production and perform operating procedures for applying coatings
• Perform set up of coating stations to device specifications
• Load machine with devices, install and confirm program, monitor device movements throughout processing, unload devices and verify process for accuracy
• Create finished labels and perform device intermediate and finished packaging
• Assist in troubleshooting equipment
• Keep work area clean, organized and operating according to company and ISO standards.
• Write coating procedures and/or other work instructions
• Create, review, and approve batch records to ensure accuracy and archive documentation upon completion
• Ensure materials and solutions used in processing are recorded
• Engage in continuous-improvement objectives and seek opportunities to support personal and company growth
• Provide cross-functional support and perform additional duties as assigned or required to meet organizational goals and objectives
• Provide instructions to the coating team (technicians I & II) as needed during execution of coating production.
• Identify novel coating techniques and demonstrate their feasibility for use in processing developmental coating runs.Perform visual and tactile evaluations and inspections for coated devices

Qualifications

• High school diploma required
• Experience in a technical discipline with minimum 4 years’ experience in a manufacturing, process development or production environment preferred
• Critical Skills: mixing materials, reading, and understanding product specifications and SOP’s, operating various manufacturing machines, measuring & inspecting products/materials and clearly documenting all activities.
• Ability to set up and perform all physical test methods for coated and uncoated devices.
• Ability to prioritize and efficiently complete tasks with consistency and accuracy, often under pressure and/or short deadlines
• Detail oriented, highly organized, capable of completing high quality work
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate with co-workers as well as work independently
• Ability to interpret technical drawings
• Computer literacy with Microsoft package, spreadsheet, and e-mail software
• Strong oral and written communications skills
• Ensures all interactions are consistent with company values and treats others with dignity and respect
