Job summary

Air Liquide La Porte is hiring a Production Technician to operate and monitor Air Separation Unit processes, nitrogen generators, and oxygen compressors. You will manage safe work permits, lockout/tagout, and daily equipment checks in a heavy industrial setting.

You will follow SOPs, ensure safety compliance, keep accurate records, and support maintenance and startup/shutdown activities. A technically oriented, safety-minded individual is preferred, with the ability to work shifts.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 3+ years of technical training or operations experience.
• Ability to work extended hours/shift work.
• Valid Driver's License.
• Knowledge of instrumentation, rotating equipment and piping systems.

Responsibilities

• Operate start-up and shut-down Air Separation Unit, Nitrogen Generators and High Purity Oxygen compressors.
• Enter daily needs for safe work permits and lockout tagout requests.
• Demonstrate knowledge of plant safety rules and company safety policies.
• Perform operator rounds, monitor equipment, and maintain documentation.

The Production Technician will be responsible for operations of start-up and shut-down Air Separation Unit, Nitrogen Generators and High Purity Oxygen compressors. The technician will also carry out daily needs for safe work permits and lockout tagout request.

Demonstrate an overall understanding of plant safety rules, regulations, and company safety policies/procedures.

Instill safety in others by being safety minded; models good safety practices.

Work safely in all situations.

Identify potential maintenance needs; enter them into the work order maintenance management system (Maximo).

Perform all work in compliance with standard operating and maintenance procedures, utilizing current Life Safety Training skills and safety requirements including safe work permits, energy control isolation and IDLs, confined space entry work, hot work, work plans, pre-job discussions, plant safety inspections, etc.

Ensure contractors, visitors, co-workers and others comply with company safety policies/procedures. Issues safe work permit documentation and performs lock-out tag-out of equipment.

Acquire knowledge/ability in all plant operations including processes and equipment.

Exhibit instrumentation and mechanical aptitude.

Learn and follow standard operating procedures (SOPs), corporate procedures; read and interpret flow charts, process piping ISOS, simple schematics, P&IDs, electrical schematics; perform basic math operations.

Keep accurate records and be diligent in documentation and record retention policies and procedures.

Demonstrate knowledge & understanding of control board and operator interface computer consoles.

Perform operator rounds, water samples, truck loading, operations PM's.

Maintain and expect high housekeeping and organizational standards.

Perform other duties as assigned by Plant Management

Required Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED required;

Technical Associates degree preferred

3+ years of technical training or operations experience

Ability to work extended hours/shift work as business needs dictate.

Ability to work nights, weekends and possibly holidays in order to meet shift and on-call requirements.

Ability to be locked in at site for abnormal weather conditions

Valid Driver's License

Knowledge/understanding of instrumentation, rotating equipment and piping systems.

Familiarity with regulatory requirements for operating plants (EPA regulations, FDA regulations, state/local regulations).

Ability to use computers-knowledge of Google office software.

Ability to work in a team environment; demonstrated self motivated attitude.

Good verbal/written communication skills in order to deal effectively with management and external customers.

Qualified in operation of the forklift, man lift and overhead crane is preferred.

Highly organized with the ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize work.

Must be able to wear r
