Job summary

Air Liquide Electronics seeks a Gas Plant Production Technician for its Sherman, TX site. The role is on-site in Carrier Gas Operations, producing nitrogen and oxygen with a focus on safety, reliability, and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities include safe plant operation, maintenance input, calibration of analyzers, PCRs, and document control. A strong safety culture and teamwork are essential for succeeding in this fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required; Technical Associates degree preferred.
  • 6+ years of technical training or operations experience.
  • Ability to work extended hours/shift work (nights, weekends and possibly holidays) as business needs dictate.

Responsibilities

  • Work safely in all situations.
  • Champions safety and follows plant safety rules and procedures.
  • Identify potential maintenance needs and enter them into the maintenance system (Maximo).
  • Perform work per SOPs and safety requirements including lockout/tagout, energy control, confined space entry, hot work, and pre-job briefings.
  • Ensure contractors and visitors comply with safety policies.
  • Demonstrate ability to start plant cold and warm starts with assistance.
  • Calibrate and troubleshoot plant analyzers.
  • Operate day-to-day facility operations independently and with the team as needed.
  • Maintain reliability and quality of delivered products through thoughtful decision-making.
  • Demonstrate instrumentation and mechanical aptitude; read blueprints, P&IDs, schematics; perform basic math.
  • Write and redline SOPs; keep accurate records and documentation.
  • Learn to operate control boards and operator consoles; conduct plant rounds and oversee loading operations.
  • Coordinate and complete PMs; participate in planned outages; maintain housekeeping standards.
  • Work rotating shifts including nights and weekends; on-call duty as scheduled.

Pay: $34.00-$36.00 per hour

Carrier Gas Operations provides on-site air separation units producing nitrogen and oxygen gas production with best-in-class safety, reliability, flexibility and total cost of operation to our semiconductor manufacturing customers. Also supplying cost effective high purity bulk gas.

Responsibilities
  • Work safely in all situations.
  • Champions safety and serves as a supportive resource to others concerning plant safety rules, regulations, and company safety policies/procedures; models good safety practices.
  • Identify potential maintenance needs; enter them into maintenance management system (Maximo).
  • Perform all work in compliance with standard operating and maintenance procedures, utilizing current Life Safety Training skills and safety requirements including safe work permits, energy control isolation and IDLs, confined space entry work, hot work, work plans, pre-job discussions, plant safety inspections, etc.
  • Ensure contractors, visitors, co-workers and others comply with company safety policies/procedures.
  • Demonstrates ability to perform plant cold start and warm start with assistance.
  • Ability to calibrate and troubleshoot plant analyzers.
  • Demonstrates ability to perform day-to-day operations of facility independently and collaboratively as needed.
  • Demonstrates thoughtful decision-making in maintaining the reliability and quality of delivered products.
  • Exhibit instrumentation and mechanical aptitude.
  • Learn and follow standard operating procedures (SOPs), corporate procedures; read and interpret blueprints, flow charts, process piping ISOs, simple schematics, P&IDs, electrical schematics; perform basic math operations.
  • Write and redline standard operating procedures.
  • Keep accurate records and be diligent in documentation and record retention policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrate proficient knowledge of control board and operator interface computer consoles.
  • Conduct comprehensive operator rounds, execute routine water sampling, oversee truck loading operations, and perform operational preventive maintenance tasks.
  • Coordinate and guide completion of PMs.
  • Participate in plant planned outages.
  • Maintain and expect high housekeeping and organizational standards.
  • Work rotating shift schedules that may include nights, weekends and holidays.
  • We ask that you carry an on-call duty phone in accordance with the established rotational schedule, ensuring prompt response to incoming calls and system alarms.
  • Oversee and support operational aspects of the plant outside normal business hours and on weekends.
  • Engage in cross-functional training across the Maintenance and Instrumentation disciplines.
  • Obtain certification in 5S workplace organization techniques and consistently adhere to established operational standards.
  • Contribute to additional team priorities as needed by Plant Management.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED required; Technical Associates degree preferred.
  • 6+ years of technical training or operations experience.
  • Ability to work extended hours/shift work (nights, weekends and possibly holidays) as business needs dictate.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Knowledge/understanding of instrumentation, rotating equipment and piping systems.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements for operating plants (Process Safety Management, EPA regulations, FDA regulations, state/local regulations).
  • Knowledge in the proper methods of locking out and isolating equipment.
  • Demonstrated computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace applications.
  • Ability to work in a team environment; demonstrated self motivated attitude.
  • Good verbal/written communication skills in order to deal effectively with team members, management and external customers.
  • Qualified in operation of forklift and man lift preferred.
  • Demonstrated comprehensive technical proficiency with tools and piping system components—including flanges, pipe sizing, and fittings—is strongly preferred.
  • Highly organized with the ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize work.
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to wear required PPE safety equipment including, hardhat, safety glasses, safety shoes/boots, and FRC clothing.
  • Full range of motion; ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Able to climb ladders, work off elevated platforms/surfaces.
  • Able to work in non-conditioned environment for extended periods.
  • Able to enter confined spaces for inspection, testing and work.
