Job summary

Entergy is seeking a Production Technician for a CCGT facility in Jackson, Mississippi. You will operate and maintain systems with a strong emphasis on safety and adherence to procedures, and participate in a multi-skill development plan to grow in maintenance and operations.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, with a 2-year associate degree in relevant fields and 0–2 years of related experience. EEI POSS/MASS certification is required.

Qualifications

  • 2-Year associate degree in Industrial Electronics, Instrumentation/Controls or Production/Process Technology and 0-2 years of experience in a CCGT facility in an Operations or Maintenance position.

Responsibilities

  • Foster a safety-oriented culture and ensure safety compliance.
  • Maintain regulatory compliance and coordinate with agencies to avoid violations.
  • Participate in the multi-year Production Technician progression plan to develop maintenance and operations skills.
  • Aim to meet board operator qualification after training.
  • Lead/participate in job briefings and safety meetings.
  • Administer Contractor Safety orientations as needed.
  • Understand plant systems, burner and turbine controls, data acquisition, process controls, and troubleshooting.
  • Operate control board, perform rounds, and conduct PM/PDM activities.
  • Perform inspections, calibrations, installations, repairs and diagnostics of instrumentation and electrical equipment in a CCGT facility.
  • Perform light mechanical work on systems and equipment.
  • This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent and an EEI POSS/MASS certification.

Job Summary/Purpose

Operate and maintain systems associated with a Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) facility while demonstrating safety awareness and direction that will continuously improve performance by employees and contractors through the use and strict adherence to procedures and processes.

Job Duties / Responsibilities

  • Foster the importance of a safety-oriented culture.
  • Maintain regulatory compliance and be proactive in dealing with all agencies and avoid reportable violations
  • Required participation in the multi-year Production Technician multi skill progression plan to develop key skills in maintenance and operations.
  • Upon completion the employee should have the desire, aptitude and ability to meet board operator qualification.
  • Conduct and participate in job briefings and safety meetings.
  • Be responsible for Contractor Safety and conduct Contractor Safety Orientations as needed.
  • Applies understanding and knowledge of plant systems, burner controls (where applicable), turbine controls, data acquisition, process controls, regulating devices, personal computers, troubleshooting, etc.
  • Operational duties include, but not limited to, operating the control board, making operational rounds, performing PM/PDM activities, HRSG water chemistry, CEMS monitoring and calibrations.
  • Applies skills to perform inspections, calibrations, installations, repairs, diagnostics, testing and troubleshooting of complex instrumentation equipment and regulating devices in a CCGT facility, alone and as part of a team.
  • Perform mechanical work involved in inspection, repair and installation of instrumentation and electrical equipment, and light PM of mechanical systems.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 2-Year associate degree in Industrial Electronics, Instrumentation/Controls or Production/Process Technology and 0-2 years of experience in a CCGT facility in an Operations or Maintenance position

- OR -

  • 2 years of power plant operations/maintenance/electrical experience

Any certificates, licenses, etc. required for the position

  • Successful completion of the EEI POSS/MASS

EEI Testing

One way that Entergy has found to identify and assess the abilities and skills needed for certain jobs is through pre-employment testing.
