Job summary

Entergy Mississippi, LLC is seeking a Production Technician III-CRO to operate and maintain systems at a Combined Cycle Gas Turbine facility. The role emphasizes safety, adherence to procedures, and continuous performance improvements by employees and contractors.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree or equivalent in electronics/controls or related field.
  • 2–5 years in a CCGT facility in Operations or Maintenance, or 5 years power plant operations/maintenance/electrical experience.
  • Participation in Production Tech progression plan and ability to meet operator qualifications.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain CCGT facility systems and follow procedures to improve performance.
  • Participate in multi-skill progression plan and develop key maintenance and operations skills.
  • Conduct safety briefings and contractor safety orientations as needed.
  • Apply understanding of plant systems, burner controls, turbine controls, data acquisition, process controls, and OEM manuals.
  • Perform operational duties: control board, rounds, PM/PDM, HRSG water chemistry, CEMS monitoring and calibrations.
  • Inspect, calibrate, install, repair and test instrumentation and electrical equipment; perform light PM of mechanical systems.

JOB SUMMARY:

Operate and maintain systems associated with a Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) facility while demonstrating safety awareness and direction that will continuously improve performance by employees and contractors through the use and strict adherence to procedures and processes.

JOB DUTIES:
  • Operate and maintain systems associated with a Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) facility while demonstrating safety awareness and direction that will continuously improve performance by employees and contractors through the use and strict adherence to procedures and processes.
  • Required participation in the multi-year Production Technician multi skill progression plan to develop key skills in maintenance and operations. Upon completion the employee should have the desire, aptitude and ability to meet board operator qualifications.
  • Conduct and participate in job briefings and safety meetings. Be responsible for Contractor Safety and conduct Contractor Safety Orientations as needed.
  • Applies understanding and knowledge of plant systems, burner controls (where applicable), turbine controls, data acquisition, process controls, regulating devices, personal computers, troubleshooting, etc.
  • Operational duties include, but not limited to, operating the control board, making operational rounds, performing PM/PDM activities, HRSG water chemistry, CEMS monitoring and calibrations.
  • Applies skills to perform inspections, calibrations, installations, repairs, diagnostics, testing and troubleshooting of complex instrumentation equipment and regulating devices in a CCGT facility, alone and as part of a team. Perform mechanical work involved in inspection, repair and installation of instrumentation and electrical equipment, and light PM of mechanical systems.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
  • 2 Year Associate's Degree in Industrial Electronics, Instrumentation/Controls or Production/Process Technology or equivalent work experience.
  • Production Tech I,II, and CRO: 2-5 years experience in a CCGT facility in an Operations or Maintenance position; or 5 years of power plant operations/maintenance/electrical experience.
  • Production Tech III: 0-2 years experience in a CCGT facility in an Operations or Maintenance position; or 4 years of power plant operations/maintenance/electrical experience.

Either the minimum education or minimum experience requirements must be met by the applicant for job consideration.

  • Must be good at communicating, both verbal and written, the results of evaluation of assignments to supervision. Ability to interpret and comprehend P&ID's, electrical schematics, network diagrams and OEM manuals.
Minimum Certifications/Licenses
  • Successful completion of the EEI POSS/MASS.
Working Conditions

Employees are required to work 12 hour shifts with both day and night rotations. Working environment frequently requires exposure to extreme ambient conditions ranging from hot humid environments to freezing temperatures in winter months. Employees are required to climb stairs, ladders and walk or stand for extended periods. Overtime and callouts during holidays, nights and off days should be expected on a routine basis. Use of personal computer applications is necessary daily to log equipment data, log time worked and to communicate with various levels of our organization. Skills in Microsoft Word and Excel are very beneficial.
