Job description

Job Title: Production Technician (up 28/hr depending on experience)
Job Description

The Production Technician assembles and tests air leak detection and heater tube equipment that combines electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic components. This role builds electromechanical sub-assemblies and finished products using blueprints, schematics, and documented work instructions, and ensures each unit meets defined quality and performance standards for use in applications such as medical devices, engines, and in-process manufacturing quality checks.

Responsibilities
  • Assemble air leak detection and heater tube equipment that includes electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic components, following detailed blueprints, drawings, schematics, and documented work instructions.
  • Build, wire, and test electromechanical sub-assemblies and finished products, ensuring proper installation of all components and accurate adherence to specifications.
  • Fabricate and install pneumatic tubing, fittings, regulators, valves, manifolds, and related components; bend tubing from 1/8 inch to 1/2 inch and perform leak checks and pressure verification to defined standards.
  • Install and terminate wiring harnesses, perform soldering and de‑soldering operations, and verify continuity and point‑to‑point wiring against electrical schematics.
  • Perform functional and final testing of equipment, identify and troubleshoot electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical faults to the module or component level, and document all test results clearly and accurately.
  • Load and operate polishing equipment and perform light mechanical assembly of heater tube products using hand tools, fixtures, and established procedures.
  • Verify part condition against defined quality standards and complete required production documentation and records.
  • Support new product introduction by assembling pilot and first‑article units and providing structured feedback to Engineering on drawings, work instructions, and assembly methods.
  • Rotate across multiple production lines as needed based on scheduling, product mix, and demand, maintaining flexibility to support various products and processes.
  • Perform routine maintenance and calibration support for test fixtures and production equipment to ensure reliable operation and accurate test results.
  • Inspect incoming components and sub‑assemblies from suppliers, label and properly handle nonconforming material, and follow established quality control procedures.
  • Use the ERP system to complete labor reporting, material transactions, and required steps for manufacturing and customer orders.
  • Submit engineering change requests and document process or drawing discrepancies to support continuous improvement and product accuracy.
  • Provide technical guidance and on‑the‑job training to less experienced technicians to support skill development and consistent work quality.
  • Follow all safety policies and procedures, including the correct use of required personal protective equipment, and maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Respond productively to changing priorities, support team needs, and perform other related duties as assigned.
Essential Skills
  • 3–5 years of mechanical experience, including hands‑on work with mechanical assembly and related tools.
  • Three or more years of hands‑on experience in electromechanical assembly, instrumentation, test, or field service, including demonstrated pneumatic and electrical work.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, blueprints, and process flow diagrams.
  • Previous experience working with pneumatic equipment, including tubing, fittings, regulators, valves, and leak detection methods.
  • Experience building and terminating wiring harnesses and performing soldering and de‑soldering operations.
  • Ability to troubleshoot electrical and pneumatic systems to the module level, identifying and resolving faults efficiently.
  • Proficiency using computers to connect equipment, run software, and perform machine calibration.
  • Working knowledge of PC applications and Microsoft Office, along with experience entering transactions into an ERP system.
  • High school diploma or GED.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Two-year technical degree in electronics, electromechanical technology, instrumentation, or a related field is preferred.
  • Equivalent military technical training or a completed trade apprenticeship may be considered in place of a degree.
  • Instrumentation experience is a plus, including familiarity with instrumentation tubing and related components.
  • Ability to perform circuit board troubleshooting to the component level is considered an advantage.
  • Experience bending tubing from 1/8 inch to 1/2 inch to specification.
  • Ability to operate electric and pneumatic hand tools safely and correctly.
  • Comfort working with documented work instructions, fixtures, and standardized assembly processes.
