Job summary

Symrise is seeking an entry-level trainee to learn and operate our chemical plant processes. The trainee will be supervised by senior technicians and Production Supervisors during the training period, with increasing responsibility as progress is made.

The role requires a 12-hour shift rotation and participation in safety trainings. Essential duties include operating process areas, monitoring parameters, and assisting with routine laboratory work to support quality and efficiency.

Qualifications

• Minimum high school or trade school; associate degree preferred.
• Entry level trainee expected to develop toward more responsibility in chemical plant operations.
• Must be able to work 12-hour shift rotations.

Responsibilities

Your role

This is an entry level position to train an individual to be a chemical plant operator. Senior technicians will directly supervise the trainee in the operations of a chemical plant. As training progresses, the individual will be given increasing responsibility of several chemical plant operation processing steps in order to learn the process areas. The trainee reports to the Production Supervisor/Group Leader for assignment, assistance and direction concerning the different processes. The trainee will be expected to develop towards being able to perform self-motivated tasks.
This job requires the Trainee to work 12 hrs shift rotations.

Essential Functions:

• A. Under supervision of a higher level technician operates assigned process areas commensurate with plant conditions and scheduled production requirements.
• B. Monitor all parameters while obtaining supervisors approval before taking necessary action to maintain or correct abnormal operating conditions.
• C. Inform supervision of abnormal indications and actions taken; make recommendations for process adjustments or corrective actions where such actions require supervisor’s approval.
• D. Monitors equipment to insure proper & safe operations and reports discrepancies to the Shift Supervisor, the Group Leader, or to a higher level technicians.
• E. Performs routine laboratory functions in accordance with laboratory procedures and the aid of direct supervision from higher level production personnel or lab Technicians.

Other Functions:

• a: Attends required safety training, communication, safety and CIM meetings.
• b: Pumps raw material from tank trucks/tote bins, operates the process PLCs, charges reactors.
• c: Reviews process area logs and operating procedures for accuracy.
• d: Takes sample and reviews results to ensure desired product quality
• e: Does other duties as required including Operator Performed Maintenance (OPM).

About you

Minimum High School or Trade School graduate with little to no experience

Associate degree in a related area is preferred
