Job summary

Symrise is a global leader in fragrances, flavors and cosmetic actives, with a diverse customer base. The company seeks a Process Improvement Specialist to optimize workflows, standardize procedures, and enhance production scheduling across departments.

You will analyze KPIs, develop SOPs, and lead training across shifts to ensure safety and efficiency. Ideal candidates have a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering and 5+ years in manufacturing, with knowledge of Lean/Six Sigma and strong

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering preferred.
  • 5+ years in a manufacturing setting preferred.
  • 3-5 years in food; powder drying technology preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Analyse existing workflows to identify inefficiencies and recommend improvements.
  • Develop and implement streamlined and standardized procedures across departments.
  • Optimize production scheduling in collaboration with other departments.
  • Organize monthly reports on production KPIs with recommendations for improvements.
  • Create and maintain up-to-date process maps, work instructions, SOPs and forms.
  • Lead training for new and current employees on documented processes.

Your role
  • Process Analysis and optimization 25%
    • Analyse existing workflows to identify inefficiencies and recommend improvements
    • Develop and implement streamlined and standardized procedures across departments
    • Optimize production scheduling in collaboration with other departments
    • Organize monthly reports on production KPIs with recommendations for improvements
  • Standardization & Documentation 25%
    • Create and maintain up-to-date process maps, work instructions, SOPs and forms
    • Establish and update industrial KPIs to monitor production performance
    • Guarantee that all processes are clearly documented and accessible to every shift
    • Ensure that production parameters and maintenance activities are included in weekly reports
  • Training and knowledge Management 25%
    • Lead training efforts for new and current employees based on documented processes
    • Ensure operators are fully trained on their production tasks, safety protocols and environmental responsibilities
    • Maintain alignment across shifts by communicating directives and ensuring comprehension
    • Keep up to date with all internal policies and procedures and communicate updates as needed
  • Troubleshooting, RCA & Reporting 20%
    • Lead and complete all Root Cause analyses (RCAs) related to process issues
    • Ensure Follow-ups and inspections are done to verify issues are resolved
    • Monitor downtime and end of shift reports, enter them into the internal system daily
    • Identify recurring operational issues and develop solutions or escalate appropriately
  • Operational Support 5%
    • Act as backup support by running a shift when a supervisor is absent, including nights shifts if needed, to ensure operational continuity
    • Maintain communication with employees and management to support a safe efficient and profitable environment
About you
  • Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering preferred
  • 5+ yrs. in a manufacturing setting preferred
  • 3 - 5 yrs. experience in food; powder drying technology preferred
  • Ability to create and adhere to effective schedules
  • Detailed oriented with the ability to manage priorities
  • Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six sigma or similar methodologies
  • Experience developing Sops, work instructions, and training materials
  • Ability to stand for long periods on solid surfaces
  • Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs. regularly
  • Ability to complete written reports legibly and accurately
  • Strong leadership, problem solving, analytical and organizational skills
  • Ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees
  • Experience in multi department operations
