Job description

Position Overview

As a Production Mechanic, you are responsible for running and monitoring specific equipment on the production line in a safe and reliable manner. Your focus is building fundamental technical skills, developing process discipline, and learning the basics of equipment performance and quality checks. You will follow standard operating procedures, respond to basic equipment stops, and report any abnormalities.

The Millersburg plant is a high‑volume, fast‑paced 24/7/365 days/year manufacturing environment. Crews work 12‑hour shifts (6 am‑6 pm / 6 pm‑6 am) on a rotating schedule: 4 days one week/3 days the next. Schedules rotate from day to night shift every four weeks.

Competencies
  • Operational Experience – handling day‑to‑day production machinery operations.
  • Limited Troubleshooting & Preventive Maintenance – identify issues, perform basic troubleshooting and maintenance using hand and power tools.
  • Quality Assurance & Inspection – conduct quality checks to ensure products meet standards and record results.
  • Safety Understanding – follow safety practices and procedures.
  • Literacy and Comprehension – read, write and understand written materials.
  • Effective Communication – report issues to co‑workers and leadership.
  • Attention to Detail – maintain high production standards.
  • Time Management – prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.

  • Mechanical aptitude and understanding of mechanical systems and tools.

  • First‑level stop response – identify and assist in resolving simple line stops or alarms.
  • Basic troubleshooting of common mechanical & graphics issues.
  • Flexibility and learning agility to rotate between machines and tasks.
  • Follow start‑up/shutdown procedures, safety protocols, and maintain production quality.
  • Basic computer skills for using digital tools and systems.
Accountabilities
  • Operate assigned equipment following SOPs, ensure safe operation and report issues.
  • Follow safety protocols, use PPE, and participate in safety audits.
  • Identify and report equipment or process abnormalities.
  • Support basic troubleshooting and housekeeping tasks.
  • Perform visual and dimensional quality checks and report non‑conformities.
  • Minimize material waste through correct handling and operation.
  • Participate in on‑the‑job training and learning activities.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and keep work area organized.

Production Technician / Production Mechanic I

  • 2+ years of job‑related experience operating equipment in a technical, mechanical or industrial setting.
  • Working knowledge of basic mechanics, hand tools, and measurement gauges.
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • Basic computer skills.
