Qualifications

  • Experience as a machine operator or related field (5-8 years).
  • Ability to handle and lift weights up to 100 pounds regularly.
  • Basic English skills to read and interpret safety and operational documents.

Responsibilities

Description

Summary: The main goal of the production technician specialist is to change over/adjust machinery to meet production schedule demands. Position has no supervisory requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.


-Changeover/adjust/run production on all machine/roll formers efficiently.
-Change over and adjust in time allotted per machine book.
-Read and interpret change over sheet.
-Set up and run a quality part with minimal scrap.
-Fully capable of press/Die set up.
-Identify and resolve problems in process, products and equipment/machines operating safely and at maximum efficiency.
-Resolve practice problems and deal with variety of concrete situation variables where limited standardization exists.
-Read and understand Machine book(s) to determine machine adjustments and material requirements. Provide feedback when machine book changes are required.
-Provide training to operators to maximize production (set-ups, change-overs, etc.) output when needed.
-Performs specialized, preventative and general machine maintenance throughout production department.
-Sets stops or guides to specified length as indicated by scale, rule, or template.
-Focus on part quality consistent with drawings and characteristics listed in machine books (length/straightness/camber/twist).
-Maintain a high level of understanding of material codes and production reports (metal codes/cartons/colors/labeling/etc.).
-Provide suggestions for improvement in processes.
-Observes and enforces safety and security procedures; Reports and corrects potentially unsafe conditions; Uses equipment and materials properly.
-Operate within 6s guidelines.
-Maintain regular attendance at Appleton facility.

Trade School; High school diploma; or five to eight years related experience and/or five to eight years training as a machine operator; or equivalent combination of education and experience.


Language/Reasoning Ability/Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, or decimals. Ability to read, write and speak basic English and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to fill out production reports and follow production schedules.


Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
May be asked to have a Forklift License to facilitate production. Ability to be certified as a crane operator and have power lock out procedures mastered.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving forklifts and pallets. The employee is occasionally exposed to hot or cold conditions. The noise level in the work environment is high and requires the use of hearing protections. We also require steel toed shoes and protective eyewear at all times in the plant.
