Job summary

Bio-Rad Laboratories in Hercules, CA seeks a Production Technician to support instrument and reagent manufacturing in GMP-compliant operations. You will perform production tasks, operate equipment, complete documentation, and participate in quality inspections while maintaining safety and 5S standards.

The role requires 3–5 years of related experience, strong math and problem-solving skills, and the ability to train others. Flexible shifts and overtime may be needed.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent; associate degree preferred.
  • 3–5 years related experience or equivalent education/experience.
  • Working knowledge of quality systems, cGMP and related procedures.
  • Ability to operate lab/test equipment and follow semi-complex instructions.
  • Strong math, problem solving and computer skills.
  • SAP experience a plus.
  • Experience operating manual, semi-auto and automatic production machinery.
  • Intermediate technical troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to prioritize work and be detail oriented.
  • Willingness to train others and work flexible hours including overtime.

Responsibilities

  • Performs basic manufacturing tasks and maintenance of production equipment for instruments and consumables.
  • Calibrates and operates equipment, dispenses or packages products, and documents tasks per GDP.
  • Verifies materials against process orders and prepares the work area for production.
  • Follows work instructions to execute tasks and performs in-line quality inspections.
  • Maintains accurate quality records and completes line clearance.
  • Monitors inventory and assists with waste disposal and PPE compliance.
  • Trains other employees and cross-trains on production lines.

Job description

The Production Technician is responsible for producing or supporting production of instruments or reagents products in compliance with established GMP procedures and ensuring products are of consistent high quality. Perform production activities and or provide support to production operation, perform ERP system transactions, and support training of personnel assigned to Production Department

How You'll Make An Impact:
  • Performs basic manufacturing tasks and basic maintenance of semiautomatic and/or automated assembly equipment and tools for both instruments and consumables.
  • Performs calibration and operation of equipment, dispensing or packaging dry and/ or wet products, capping and torqueing of bottles, assembly of components and kits, performing calculations, and completing required documentation following Good Documentation Practices.
  • Verifies required materials against the process order and prepares work area for production operation.
  • Strictly follow work instructions to execute production tasks.
  • Performs in-line quality inspection and weighs finished products to confirm it meets specifications.
  • Inspects product using visual, automated, electronic and mechanical inspection procedures.
  • Performs line clearance.
  • Completes required documentation in an accurate and timely manner following Good Documentation Practices (GDP).
  • Ensures scrap and waste are disposed of properly.
  • Operates motorized and non-motorized equipment to move materials, supplies and equipment as instructed.
  • Adheres to all policies and procedures relating to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP/Quality Systems).
  • Complies with 5S requirements.
  • Completes special projects and other duties as assigned.
  • Trains other employees.
  • Basic troubleshooting as needed.
  • Completes and maintains quality records.
  • Cross train on 1-2 production lines.
  • Strictly follows PPE procedures.
  • Monitors and maintains inventory at their work areas.
  • Keeps supervisor appraised of any abnormal production issues.
  • May work on different shifts.
What You Bring:
  • Education: High school diploma, GED, or equivalent. Associate degree preferred. College level courses and/or specialized training in the assigned technical discipline preferred.
  • Work Experience: 3-5 years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Working knowledge of quality systems, cGMP, and precedents, policies, and procedures in the specialty area.
  • Ability to operate lab/test equipment and to apply common sense to carry out semi-complex written or oral instructions.
  • Strong math, problem solving and computer skills.
  • Transaction in SAP a plus.
  • Experience operating manual, semi-auto and automatic production machinery, preferred.
  • Utilize intermediate technical skills to troubleshoot equipment.
  • Ability to prioritize work.
  • Accurate and detail-oriented.
  • Team player/ flexible/ attentive to detail and quality minded.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, with overtime and weekends as needed.
  • Must be able to train others.
Location:

This position must be based in Hercules, CA and requires the employee to be located within commuting distance of the office.

Compensation:

The estimated hourly range for this position is $23.13 to $31.78 at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be provided in writing at the time of offer, if applicable, and is based on several factors we believe fairly and accurately impact compensation, including geographic location, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and other job permitted factors. This position is eligible for a variable annual bonus, which is dependent upon achievement of your individual objectives and Company performance.
