Job summary

Unified Door & Hardware Group (UDHG) is seeking a Production Team Leader to oversee daily operations in a pre‑hung door production facility. You will coordinate workflow, supervise staff, monitor quality, and ensure safety while meeting schedules and customer requirements.

Responsibilities include training, coaching, and driving continuous improvement in productivity and 5S practices, with close collaboration to ensure high quality and on-time delivery.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; Associate degree preferred in Manufacturing, Operations, Industrial Technology, or related field.
  • 3+ years in manufacturing, production, woodworking, millwork, door production, or related experience.
  • 1+ year of lead, trainer, team lead, or informal leadership experience.
  • Ability to coordinate workflow and support daily production activities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret production schedules, work orders, specifications, and quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Production Supervisor with the startup and organization of daily production activities.

Position Overview

At Unified Door & Hardware Group (UDHG), the Production Team Leader is responsible for supporting daily manufacturing operations within a pre‑hung door production facility by coordinating workflow, production activities, employee support, quality standards, material flow, and safety initiatives. This role serves as the primary point of contact for production employees within the assigned area and works closely with the Production Supervisor to ensure production schedules, quality expectations, and operational objectives are achieved efficiently and safely. The Production Team Leader leads by example, promotes accountability and teamwork, assists with employee training and development, and helps maintain a productive manufacturing environment that supports customer satisfaction and business objectives.

Responsibilities and Qualifications
Key Responsibilities
Production Operations & Workflow
  • Assist the Production Supervisor with the startup and organization of daily production activities.
  • Ensure assigned production areas are properly staffed, organized, and prepared for production.
  • Review daily production schedules, shop orders, and customer requirements.
  • Coordinate workflow and work assignments within the assigned production area.
  • Monitor production progress and communicate bottlenecks, delays, material shortages, and operational issues.
  • Support staffing adjustments due to callouts, workload fluctuations, or production priorities.
  • Track and communicate downtime, production concerns, and schedule impacts.
Team Leadership & Training
  • Provide day-to-day guidance and support to production employees.
  • Communicate production goals, priorities, expectations, and schedule requirements.
  • Assist with employee onboarding, cross‑training, and skills development.
  • Monitor employee performance and provide coaching and feedback.
  • Identify performance, attendance, or conduct concerns and communicate them to the Production Supervisor.
  • Promote teamwork, accountability, productivity, and a positive work environment.
  • Lead by example through adherence to company policies, attendance standards, and safe work practices.
Quality Control
  • Ensure products are manufactured in accordance with company standards, specifications, and customer requirements.
  • Perform routine quality inspections throughout production processes.
  • Verify compliance with established manufacturing and quality procedures.
  • Ensure quality control documentation is completed accurately and timely.
  • Identify product defects and implement immediate containment measures.
  • Escalate recurring quality issues to the Production Supervisor.
  • Assist in root cause analysis and corrective action initiatives.
Safety & Housekeeping
  • Promote and reinforce safe work practices and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Ensure compliance with company safety policies and equipment operating procedures.
  • Address unsafe behaviors and conditions and communicate concerns to management.
  • Participate in safety meetings and support safety training initiatives.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe production areas.
  • Support 5S and workplace organization programs.
  • Assist with incident reporting and corrective action activities.
Equipment & Maintenance Support
  • Monitor equipment and machinery to ensure safe and efficient operation.
  • Assist with troubleshooting basic equipment issues.
  • Communicate equipment failures and maintenance concerns promptly.
  • Coordinate with Maintenance personnel to minimize downtime.
  • Ensure operators follow machine operating procedures and preventive maintenance requirements.
Inventory & Material Coordination
  • Verify materials are available and staged for scheduled production.
  • Confirm material quantities, product specifications, and production requirements.
  • Communicate shortages, discrepancies, or inventory concerns.
  • Help ensure proper handling and storage of materials to minimize waste and damage.
  • Support inventory accuracy and production reporting activities.
Continuous Improvement
  • Identify opportunities to improve safety, quality, productivity, workflow, and material utilization.
  • Support process improvement and waste reduction initiatives.
  • Assist with implementation of new equipment, processes, layouts, and production procedures.
  • Encourage employee participation in continuous improvement efforts.
Additional Responsibilities & Miscellaneous
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support Manufacturing Operations and corporate objectives.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required; Associate degree in Manufacturing, Operations, Industrial Technology, or a related field preferred.
  • Three (3) or more years of manufacturing, production, assembly, woodworking, millwork, door production, or related industrial experience.
  • One (1) or more years of lead, trainer, team lead, or informal leadership experience.
  • Ability to coordinate workflow and support daily production activities in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret production schedules, work orders, specifications, and quality standards.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and production reporting systems.
  • Ability to safely perform physical requirements associated with a manufacturing environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in pre‑hung door manufacturing, commercial door and hardware, millwork, or building products industries.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Forklift certification or material handling experience.
  • Experience training employees and supporting workforce development.
  • Familiarity with ERP, inventory management, and production planning systems.
  • OSHA 10 certification or other workplace safety certifications.

Compensation

The listed pay range reflects the expected base rate for this position. Within the range, individual pay may vary based on experience, qualifications, and work location within state.

This is a full‑time position with competitive pay and benefits.

  • Base: $25.00 - $ 27.00 per hour
  • Total Compensation (Base + Bonus): The successful candidate could reasonably expect a Total Compensation Package in the range of $66,560 - $76,960
  • Equity: This role is not eligible for equity opportunities, awards or grants.
