Job summary

Ontic Chatsworth in Los Angeles, CA, is seeking a Production Team Lead to combine hands-on technical leadership with day-to-day team management on the shop floor. You’ll balance priorities, troubleshoot issues, and keep production on track with safety, quality and delivery as top priorities.

You’ll mentor technicians, read engineering drawings, and guide others to build capability while promoting continuous improvement and safe working practices in a fast-paced aerospace environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in manufacturing or assembly environments.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and follow QA procedures.
• Experience meeting production targets with shifting priorities.
• Aerospace or regulated manufacturing experience advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate daily work across the team to meet output, quality, and delivery.
• Remain hands-on to guide the team and provide first-line support for production and equipment issues.
• Identify root causes and elevate issues requiring additional support.
• Ensure work follows engineering drawings, work instructions, and safety requirements.
• Coach and onboard technicians and new starters to build team capability.
• Maintain production information and update status in business systems.
• Support the Cell Manager with day-to-day operations and 5S/6S improvements.

The opportunity

As a Production Team Lead at Ontic, you’ll combine hands‑on technical expertise with day‑to‑day leadership of a production team. You’ll be right there alongside the team, helping coordinate the work, solve problems and make sure production stays on track against safety, quality and delivery priorities.

This is a role for someone who understands the work themselves and can use that experience to help others succeed. You’ll provide technical guidance, help troubleshoot production and process issues, coach less experienced colleagues and act as the first point of support when challenges arise.

You’ll work closely with the Cell Manager while taking ownership of the team’s day‑to‑day coordination, creating an environment where people can do their best work and where safe working, quality and continuous improvement remain at the heart of how the team operates.

What you’ll be doing

• Coordinate daily work across the team, helping balance priorities and keep production moving against agreed output, quality and delivery requirements.
• Stay hands‑on in the work, using your technical knowledge to guide the team and provide first‑line support for production, equipment and process issues.
• Help identify root causes when problems arise and elevate issues that require additional technical or management support.
• Make sure work is carried out in line with engineering drawings, work instructions, build documentation, quality procedures and safety requirements.
• Coach and support technicians and new starters, sharing your knowledge and helping build capability across the team.
• Maintain accurate production information and use business systems to keep work status current.
• Support the Cell Manager with day‑to‑day operational needs while promoting safe working, housekeeping, 5S/6S and continuous improvement across the team.

What you’ll bring

• Substantial hands‑on experience in a manufacturing or assembly environment.
• Strong technical competence within your production or process area, with the confidence to guide and support less experienced colleagues.
• The ability to read, understand and work from engineering drawings, work instructions and quality requirements.
• Experience working to production targets while managing changing and competing priorities.
• Strong communication and coaching skills, with the ability to coordinate work and support others while remaining hands‑on yourself.
• A relevant engineering or manufacturing qualification or equivalent time‑served experience would be advantageous.
• Experience in aerospace or another regulated manufacturing environment would also be advantageous.

Compensation Pay Range

$32-$38/hour, based on experience
