Job summary

Carbon, Inc. is seeking a Production Systems/Test Engineer to join our Santa Clara, CA team. You will own root cause analysis and develop robust test and bring-up processes to improve production line efficiency and product quality.

The role requires hands-on troubleshooting across hardware, software, and data, with close collaboration across Design, Systems, Quality, and Supply Chain teams. Expect KPI dashboards, PVT leadership, and clear on-floor documentation.

Qualifications

• B.S./M.S. in Electrical, Mechanical, or Systems Engineering.
• 5+ years in a manufacturing environment.
• Hands-on troubleshooting of complex electro-mechanical, optical, or integrated systems.
• Proven ability to resolve production line issues using structured root cause analysis (8D, 5-Why, Fishbone).
• Experience building KPI dashboards and applying statistical tools to identify trends.
• Able to translate findings into clear work instructions and process docs.
• Strong communicator across Design, Systems, Quality, and Supply Chain.

Responsibilities

• Own root cause analysis and troubleshooting of complex electro-mechanical and optical systems, using data analysis and MES tools to identify, validate, and resolve issues.
• Serve as a key technical resource for the production floor, rapidly unblocking manufacturing personnel and driving corrective actions to full resolution.
• Partner with production and cross-functional teams to implement corrective actions and drive lasting process improvements.
• Develop and maintain reporting dashboards to track manufacturing KPIs and translate data into actionable insights.
• Lead Product Validation Testing (PVT) for new products, building robust bring-up and end-of-line test processes.
• Translate technical findings into updated work instructions and process documentation for sustained on-floor fixes.
