Job summary

VEKA is seeking a manufacturing packaging operator in Reno, NV. The role supports extrusion operations, packs profiles neatly, and ensures packaging standards are met across crates and boxes.

You will follow safety rules, read measurements, and collaborate with the shift supervisor to keep a clean, efficient work area. The position runs 7am–7pm with opportunities to cover breaks as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required or prior work experience.
• Ability to follow safety protocols and work with standard measurement tools.
• Willingness to read instructions, work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Adheres to safety requirements and informs supervisor of unsafe situations.
• Verifies product line and properly bands, seals, and bar-codes racks and boxes.
• Inspects profiles for defects and general appearance.
• Notifies supervisor or QA of quality problems.
• Lines empty racks with fascia, side protector, and plastic as needed.
• Puts fill racks of material out to be sealed in packaging units.
• Transports finished products and scrap to designated areas.
• Sets up empty racks on rack dollies and brings new racks to the floor.
• Sets up scrap Gaylord boxes and replaces full ones.
• Measures, cuts, and builds wood packaging for VEKA crates.
• Completes crates for VEKA decking and fencing with tops and cardboard.
• Maintains housekeeping of the work area for a safe environment.
• Assists extrusion operators and packs profiles per VEKA standards; covers breaks as needed.
• All other duties assigned.

Job description

Adheres to safety requirements and informs supervisor of any unsafe situations

Verifies product line, along with properly banding, sealing, and bar-coding racks, bundles, crates and/or boxes of finished products

Visually inspects profiles for gross defects, surface defects, and general appearance

Notifies Extrusion Operator Technician, Supervisor, or the Quality Assurance Inspector of any quality problems that are in question or occur

Lines empty racks with fascia, side protector, and plastic as needed

Pushes fill racks of material out to be sealed in specified packaging units

Transports finished products and/or scrap to designated area

Sets up empty racks on rack dollies and transports new racks to floor

Sets up scrap Gaylord boxes and replaces those that are full

Measures, cuts, and builds wood packaging units and delivers them to the running extrusion lines for VEKA crating units

Completes crates for VEKA decking and fencing with wooden tops and cardboard in addition to sealing and banding the crates

Maintains proper housekeeping of assigned work area including but not limited to emptying the trash to ensure a safe and clean work environment for you and your co-workers

Assists extrusion operators including but not limited to packing profiles neatly and properly according to VEKA’s packaging standards; fills in for breaks as needed
