Job summary

VEKA is seeking a dependable general laborer for our Reno, NV facility. You will adhere to safety requirements, inspect products, prepare crates, and assist extrusion operators to maintain packaging standards on a 7am–7pm schedule.

You will read tape measures, operate hand tools, and contribute to clean, organized work areas while notifying supervisors of any quality or safety concerns. Prior packaging or manufacturing experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Must be able to perform general packaging and assembly duties.
• Ability to read a tape measure and use basic hand tools.
• Capable of maintaining a clean and organized work area.
• Willingness to work in a manufacturing environment and follow safety protocols.

Responsibilities

• Inform supervisor of any unsafe situations.
• Verify product line and properly package finished products.
• Inspect profiles for defects and overall appearance.
• Notify QA of quality problems.
• Line empty racks with fascia and plastic.
• Pack and seal items in specified packaging units.
• Transport finished products and scrap to designated areas.
• Set up racks and transport new ones to the floor.
• Build wood packaging units delivered to extrusion lines.
• Complete crates for decking and fencing with tops and cardboard.
• Maintain housekeeping and safety in the work area.
• Assist extrusion operators during breaks and busy periods.
• Other duties as assigned.

Job description

Adheres to safety requirements and informs supervisor of any unsafe situations

Verifies product line, along with properly banding, sealing, and bar-coding racks, bundles, crates and/or boxes of finished products

Visually inspects profiles for gross defects, surface defects, and general appearance

Notifies Extrusion Operator Technician, Supervisor, or the Quality Assurance Inspector of any quality problems that are in question or occur

Lines empty racks with fascia, side protector, and plastic as needed

Pushes fill racks of material out to be sealed in specified packaging units

Transports finished products and/or scrap to designated area

Sets up empty racks on rack dollies and transports new racks to floor

Sets up scrap Gaylord boxes and replaces those that are full

Measures, cuts, and builds wood packaging units and delivers them to the running extrusion lines for VEKA crating units

Completes crates for VEKA decking and fencing with wooden tops and cardboard in addition to sealing and banding the crates

Maintains proper housekeeping of assigned work area including but not limited to emptying the trash to ensure a safe and clean work environment for you and your co-workers

Assists extrusion operators including but not limited to packing profiles neatly and properly according to VEKA’s packaging standards; fills in for breaks as needed
