Job description

Production Supervisor

Reporting to the Production Manager / Director of Operations, this role is responsible for supervising the day-to-day manufacturing operations and the performance of employees for a designated value stream. This position involves planning and assigning work, implementing policies and procedures, and recommending improvements in production methods, equipment, operating procedures, and working conditions.

As a Production Supervisor, you will:

  1. Balance quality, productivity, cost, safety, and morale to achieve positive results in all areas. Aim to meet and improve schedule dates, reduce process times, inventory levels, increase resource utilization, and manage department priorities.
  2. Control manpower and materials needed to complete jobs accurately and on time.
  3. Guide and monitor the team towards its goals, ensuring employee productivity, resolving problems, and having the authority to change work roles and distribution.
  4. Assist in initiating, implementing, and leading continuous improvement activities, researching new processes, procedures, and equipment to improve throughput, quality, and profitability.
  5. Continuously evaluate and improve manufacturing processes through lean concepts and Six Sigma, partnering with Operational Excellence to establish priorities and implement improvements while fostering a lean culture.
  6. Supervise manufacturing employees' work.
  7. Track absenteeism, maintain, and approve timekeeping records.
  8. Ensure effective employee relations through mentoring, development, coaching, and resolving issues.
  9. Participate in employment decisions, including hiring, performance appraisals, disciplinary actions, and terminations.
  10. Arrange training to develop employees' skills, improve throughput, and reduce scrap/rework.
  11. Evaluate and update team members' performance against their job requirements and goals.
  12. Ensure safety by providing training, leading accident investigations, safety observations, and hazard mapping.
  13. Coordinate with the Warehouse Manager to maintain optimal inventory levels.
  14. Collaborate with other departments on projects.
  15. Monitor production schedules, inform management of delays, and report on progress.
  16. Manage departmental performance measures and provide regular updates to management.
  17. Support NPD introductions by working with technical teams to troubleshoot, review, and update work instructions, and train team members for smooth transitions.
  18. Work with Supply Chain, Planning, and QA to resolve parts, inventory, and quality issues.

As a Supervisor and Leader, you are:

Responsible for the day-to-day performance of a team of approximately 6+ employees. You guide and monitor the team toward goals, ensure productivity, resolve problems, and have authority over work roles and distribution. You participate in HR-related decisions such as hiring, performance appraisals, disciplinary actions, and terminations.

We are looking for someone who:

  1. Has 5-7 years of progressive experience in manufacturing.
  2. Has at least 3 years of experience leading an hourly or manufacturing workforce.
  3. Holds a High School diploma or GED; a Bachelor’s Degree is a plus.
  4. Possesses intermediate computer skills, including MS Office and inventory systems.
  5. Has excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
  6. Has extensive knowledge and leadership in Lean, Six Sigma, 5P, or other continuous improvement models, with participation in related projects.

The Physical Demands of the job include:

  1. General office environment, PC use.
  2. Light lifting (occasional 25 lbs or less).
  3. Stooping.
  4. Standing.

What we offer you:

Annual salary range: $72,980 – $94,915, based on skills and experience.

This position is eligible for our Quarterly Incentive Pay Program.
