Job Summary

The Production Supervisor works with the Operations Manager and Production Coordinator to produce high-quality decorative architectural metal products efficiently and on time by planning and directing the production leads and their crews. The supervisor will be hands-on in daily operations, primarily on the shop floor, ensuring work flows smoothly through the facility.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide a safety-conscious work environment where safety is the priority.
  • Review schedules and trackers to confirm start dates for each department.
  • Review finishes and materials orders and due dates.
  • Coordinate with the Purchasing Team regarding ship dates that may be missed or unachievable.
  • Establish and maintain a Pull System for all jobs.
  • Lead cost reduction efforts, including shop efficiencies and consumable management.
  • Train and develop shop Leads and Associates.
  • Issue Corrective Actions and coaching as needed.
  • Ensure all jobs are built with first-time right quality to reduce rework costs.
  • Confirm cores are received on time and match drawings for start dates.
  • Distribute job packets with due dates to department leads.
  • Answer follow-up questions during hand-off meetings.
  • Monitor daily job progress for budget and schedule deviations.
  • Document issues and checklists.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Plant Manager, optimizing the use of time, materials, and equipment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • College degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
  • Experience with Lean manufacturing or Six Sigma.
  • 3-5 years of leadership experience in an architectural metal shop.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Proficiency in structured problem-solving and analysis.
  • Ability to prioritize, multitask, and implement solutions.
  • Attention to detail and a sense of urgency.
  • Enthusiasm and willingness to learn.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team.

Physical and Mental Demands

Regular talking, listening, standing, walking, using hands, reaching; occasional sitting, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling. Frequently lift up to 20 pounds; occasionally up to 50 pounds. Vision abilities include close, peripheral, depth perception, color differentiation, and focus.

Working Environment

Primarily on the shop floor with some office work.
