Simpson Door Company is seeking a Shipping Supervisor to manage day-to-day operations in their shipping department. The role involves ensuring safety, productivity, and effective shipping methods while leading a team. Candidates should have supervisory experience, a strong understanding of shipping processes, and excellent interpersonal skills. The position offers a competitive salary and comprehensive benefits.

In alignment with the goals and objectives of the business, supervise and manage the day-to-day Simpson Door Company operations to assure a high level of employee safety, employee involvement, continuous efficient operations, recovery maximization, and product quality and standards. Lead, manage and/or participate in various production improvement projects and committees. Directly supervise employees within an assigned department.
Responsibilities and essential job functions include, but are not limited to, the following:
1. Assure a safe operating environment by planning, implementing, directing and physically auditing all aspects of the shipping department (including employee performance) to ensure an effective safety program that is results-oriented and encourages significant employee participation. Complete all mandatory annual safety training.
2. Implement department operating plan achieving plan goals through supervision of employees and managing operational issues.
3. Assure the most effective shipping method using an understanding of truck loading procedures with regard to full truck loading, multiple drop loading, LTL shipments, and the relationships between dedicated carriers, common carriers, UPS, Federal Express, etc. Analyzes shipping activity for service and cost trends and adjust as appropriate.
4. Ensure that high levels of productivity are achieved for all areas. Must be able to give clear expectations and follow-up on productivity variances.
5. Effectively evaluate machine center production costs and use as a basis for material utilization decisions.
6. Work closely with appropriate lead people, supervisors, sales personnel, and key personnel in other departments, etc., to ensure on-time shipments.
7. Provide good department communications through daily or regular contact with other supervisors and lead personnel.
8. Must fully understand the entire door business system, shipping, inventory, and sales process.
9. As appropriate, participate in hiring, selection and orientation of new employees.
10. Provide for continuous enhancement and improvements by directing employee involvement activities and staying abreast of the new developments in shipping and inventory control methods.
11. Assure a positive labor relations atmosphere through firm and consistent application of labor agreement and maintenance of open and honest communication with union representatives and employees.
12. Assure a work environment, which respects the rights of employees. Assure that all employment and personnel activity is conducted in a non-discriminatory manner. Act on employee complaints and issues promptly, correcting problems as noted.
13. Must participate in meetings and will be expected to work weekends, holidays, long hours when needed.
Qualifications - Required:
Technical/Education
• Minimum of three years experience in shipping and distribution or a manufacturing environment or equivalent stile and rail door manufacturing experience.
• Thorough knowledge of shipping and distribution processes.
• Minimum 2 years supervisory experience.
• High school graduate or equivalent
• Strong PC skills in Excel and Access.

• Demonstrated high personal motivation and energy.
• Ability to train and motivate others.
• Strong communication skills.
• Strong leadership and human relations skills.
• Good problem solving, analytical and organizational skills.
• Strong commitment to customer service.
Qualifications - Preferred:
• Associate degree in a job-related field.
• Three years supervisory experience in door or window manufacturing.
• More than two years of shipping and distribution experience.
