Job summary

Nationwide Technical Search in Calera, AL is hiring a Production Supervisor for 2:30 PM–1:00 AM shifts with relocation assistance. You will lead daily manufacturing operations across machining, fabrication, assembly, and valve production, directing hourly staff to meet schedules safely and with high quality in a high-mix, low-volume environment.

The role requires 5-7 years of manufacturing experience, 2-5 years supervisory.

Qualifications

• Requires 5-7 years of manufacturing experience in machining, fabrication, or assembly.
• 2-5 years of frontline supervisory experience leading 15-30 hourly employees.
• Experience in high-mix, low-volume environments preferred.
• Large-part machining experience strongly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of GD&T, engineering drawings, routings, BOMs, tooling/fixturing.
• Proficient with ERP systems (D365, SAP, Oracle) and MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Safety leadership: enforce safety policies, PPE compliance, investigations/audits, and strong safety culture.
• Direct daily activities to meet schedule attainment; balance labor, machine capacity and materials to minimize downtime.
• Ensure products meet engineering specifications and quality standards; support first-article inspections.

• Drive Lean Manufacturing, standard work, setup reduction, and process optimization.
• Collaborate with Planning, Maintenance, Quality, and Supply Chain; use ERP metrics for decisions.

Leads daily manufacturing operations across machining, fabrication, assembly, and valve production areas. Responsible for directing hourly production employees to ensure safe, high-quality, and efficient execution of production schedules in a high-mix, low-volume environment.

Responsibilities & Requirements

• Safety Leadership: Enforce safety policies, ensure PPE compliance, conduct investigations/audits, and drive a strong safety culture.
• Production Management: Direct daily activities of production personnel to meet schedule attainment; balance labor, machine capacity, and materials to minimize downtime and WIP.
• Quality Management: Ensure products meet engineering specifications and quality standards; partner with Quality/Engineering to resolve issues and support first-article inspections.
• People Leadership: Lead, mentor, and develop a team of 15-30 production employees; manage performance, attendance, and shift communications.
• Continuous Improvement: Drive Lean Manufacturing initiatives, standard work implementation, setup reduction, and process optimization.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Planning, Maintenance, Quality, and Supply Chain; utilize ERP metrics to guide operational decisions.
• Work Demands: Hours are 2:30 PM to 1:00 AM (Mon-Thu) with flexibility for extended hours; ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in a manufacturing environment (heat, cold, noise, dust) wearing required PPE.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or GED required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Engineering Technology, or Business preferred.
• Experience: 5-7 years of manufacturing experience in machining, fabrication, or assembly; 2-5 years of frontline supervisory experience leading 15-30 hourly employees in a high-mix, low-volume environment. Large-part machining experience strongly preferred.
• Technical Mastery: Working knowledge of CNC/manual machining, fabrication, GD&T, engineering drawings, routings, BOMs, and tooling/fixturing.
• Software & Systems: Experience using ERP systems (D365, SAP, Oracle) and MS Office to track production reports, schedule metrics, and labor data.
