Position Summary

The Production Supervisor — Packaging runs day-to-day operations on the high-speed bottling line for one crew of the four-crew rotation. This role plans the shift and keeps the line running safely and on schedule through filling, capping, labeling, and packaging. The Supervisor is directly responsible for training and developing the crew, and for ensuring the shift meets safety and quality standards. The Supervisor leads through subordinate leads and directly supervises hourly Production employees.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Review the production schedule at the start of each shift to confirm product types, quantities, specs, and scheduled delivery dates, and plan crew assignments accordingly.
• Set priorities and sequence the bottling run so the line hits target output with minimal changeover time between SKUs.
• Coordinate with the outgoing/incoming crew at shift handoff so the line transitions cleanly across the 12-hour, four-crew rotation.
• Monitor line-speed, downtime, and case/pallet output reports throughout the shift; troubleshoot filler, capper, labeler, and packaging stoppages to keep costs down and avoid delays.
• Walk the floor regularly to inspect filling, capping, labeling, and casing/palletizing equipment, confirming proper speed, settings, and output.
• Train crew members on line-specific standard operating procedures and observe the line to confirm the crew is following them.
• Handle employee concerns at the shift level; escalate unresolved issues to the Production Superintendent.
• Log and maintain accurate production, quality, and downtime data for each shift.
• Follow and enforce SQF, USDA, and HACCP standards on the line, including CCP monitoring where applicable.
• Understand, follow, and help enforce all company policies and procedures.
• Confirm equipment is used correctly and the work area stays safe — stop the line and elevate immediately for any safety concern.
• Own the training and development of crew members — cross-train across filling, capping, labeling, and packaging roles, build bench strength, and prepare employees for advancement.
• Take ownership of safety and quality outcomes for the shift: hold the crew accountable to safety rules and quality standards, and address gaps immediately rather than passing them to the next crew.
• Other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Directly supervises 20–25 Production employees on one assigned crew (A, B, C, or D) within the 2-3-2 Pitman rotation. Shift assignments are management-directed.

• Responsible for crew training and team development — build skills, cross-train for coverage, and grow bench strength toward lead, trainer, or supervisor roles.
• Plan, assign, and direct daily work across the shift.
• Ensure the crew meets safety and quality standards every shift, correcting issues on the spot.
• Partner with Human Resources on performance appraisals, recognition, and discipline.
• Address employee complaints and resolve problems at the crew level, looping in HR or the Production Superintendent as needed.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

• High school diploma or GED, plus 3–5 years of related production/manufacturing experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Prior experience in a food or beverage manufacturing environment preferred; high-speed bottling line experience is a plus.
• Comfortable with basic shift math: line rates, downtime percentages, batch/case/pallet counts, and yield calculations.
• Able to identify a production problem, gather the facts, and decide on a fix without waiting for step-by-step instructions.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Language Skills

• Able to read and interpret work instructions, SOPs, and safety/regulatory documents, and to write basic reports and shift notes.
• Able to clearly communicate with crew members, other supervisors, and plant leadership.
• Bilingual English/Spanish or Creole/English strongly preferred.

Physical Demands

• Regularly required to walk the production floor, stand for extended periods, and use hands to handle, feel, and operate equipment; frequently reaches with hands and arms.
• Occasionally sits, climbs, balances, stoops, kneels, crouches, or crawls.
• Regularly lifts/moves up to 10 lbs, frequently up to 50 lbs, and occasionally up to 25 lbs.
• Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

• Regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and moving mechanical parts, consistent with a high-speed bottling production floor.
• Frequently exposed to outside weather conditions when moving between building areas.
• Occasionally exposed to extreme cold (cold storage/tank farm areas) and vibration.
• Noise level on the production floor is usually loud — hearing protection required in designated areas.
