Job summary

Nestlé Health Science is seeking a Production Supervisor for the 3rd shift (Sun evening to Fri morning, 10:30pm–7:30am). You will lead safety, quality, and asset performance, and drive continuous improvement while partnering with on-site teams to meet the production plan.

You will hire and onboard staff, coach through the NCE approach, enforce SOPs/SSOPs, and ensure GMP compliance, sanitation, and training.

Qualifications

  • BA/BS Degree or equivalent experience; 3 years related work experience preferred.
  • 1-3 years of production supervisory experience.
  • Commitment to safety, housekeeping, and safety practices.
  • Strong communication skills (oral, written, listening).
  • Understanding of GMPs, sanitation, and food safety.

This role operates on the 3rd shift, with a schedule of Sunday night - Friday morning 10:30pm-7:30am.

Position Summary :

As the Production Supervisor, you hold the crucial responsibility of ensuring employee safety, maintaining product quality, and optimizing asset performance, all while meeting the production plan within the designated timeframe. This requires exceptional leadership skills, including active involvement in the hiring process, onboarding new employees, managing performance, and implementing corrective actions. Your role as a problem solver extends beyond day-to-day operations, as you drive continuous improvement initiatives throughout the entire plant.

To excel in this position, it is imperative that you foster proactive collaboration with other teams on-site and within the broader division, ensuring alignment between your area and the organization as a whole. As a role model, the Production Supervisor must lead by example, creating and nurturing a workplace culture that inspires and motivates associates at every level. Your focus on achieving results will be measured by key performance metrics, ultimately determining the level of success attained.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Ensure the timely implementation of the people development plan and verify the competencies of your team in accordance with the agreed plan with the Training Manager. This includes providing proper training, including equipment operation, safety procedures, and hygiene practices. Enforce compliance with standard operating procedures (SOPs) among all team members.
  • Maintain a safe work environment at all times. Ensure that updated work instructions are available for all positions and that processes are carried out in accordance with SOPs, SSOPs, and other relevant documentation. Communicate and execute activities with environmental impact in accordance with environmental management protocols.
  • Ensure the achievement of quality objectives, including regular adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), conducting sanitation audits, performing food safety checks, and conducting product quality inspections as per company policies.
  • Actively participate in preventing and correcting quality-related errors. Monitor and enforce personnel hygiene and safety practices, such as the use of protective clothing (uniforms), changing shoes, and handwashing. Continuously coach employees to meet and exceed job requirements using the NCE approach.
  • Review daily target achievements and report any deviations during on-the-floor and review meetings. Develop and implement action plans to address the root causes of failures and support continuous improvement initiatives. Facilitate smooth handoffs and effectively communicate key information to peers, team members, and Production Management.
  • Ensure continuous line controls and take immediate corrective action to maintain prescribed quality standards and comply with manufacturing instructions, internal and external regulations, procedures, and policies. Maintain effective employee and industrial relations management to ensure ongoing smooth factory operations.
  • Ensure the distribution of skills is adequate to effectively achieve the production plan. Ensure timely product launches in coordination with the business unit/area. Coordinate with quality, engineering, and administration to ensure proper maintenance of facilities. Review daily maintenance effectiveness with Maintenance Mechanics and team members to identify opportunities for improvement. Prioritize, schedule, and ensure timely completion of maintenance and repairs to maximize efficiency.

Experience & Education Requirements:

  • BA/BS Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 3 years related work experience (including that gained during military service) in lieu of degree, preferred.
  • Must have 1-3 years previous production supervisory experience
  • Ability to maintain a safe working environment through proper housekeeping and safety practices.
  • Excellent communication skills (oral, written and listening).
  • Basic understanding of warehousing and concepts.
  • Strong ability to build personal relationships based on trust, mutual respect, and open communication while being adaptable: adjusting approach to match varied task requirements, adapting behavior to others' styles, changing priorities to meet shifting demands, and quickly adjusting to new responsibilities and tasks.
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt communication style to various audiences, effectively facilitating group coaching sessions and sharing information.
  • Possessing strong interpersonal skills, consistently maintaining a positive attitude, and possessing the ability to motivate individuals, particularly through mentoring and coaching. Skilled in assisting individuals in identifying both short-term and long-term development needs, and providing the necessary support to foster growth.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities at one time through highly developed organizational skills.
  • Ability to set effective and challenging objectives.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting through root cause problem solving.
  • High energy level and excellent follow-up
  • ERP Knowledge (SAP strongly preferred)

Physical Demands:

The approximate pay range for this position is $80,000 to $90,000. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to knowledge, skills and abilities as well as geographic location.
