Job summary

Amcor is seeking a Production Supervisor to lead an assigned production department in a safe, profitable, and efficient manner. You will manage manpower, materials, equipment, and space while coordinating activities and setting priorities to meet goals.

The role includes training employees, enforcing safety rules, evaluating performance, and ensuring production quality. 12-hour shifts, high accountability, and a focus on continuous improvement are part of the job.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred and 3–5 years of related experience.
  • On-the-job and classroom training provided.
  • Understanding operating principles of all assigned equipment.
  • Ability to identify product defects using inspection procedures and test equipment.

Job Title: Production Supervisor

DEPARTMENT: EBM


REPORT TO: EBM Production Manager


Schedule: 6p-615am 2/2/3


Primary Purpose of Position:

Responsible for the operation of assigned production department in a safe, profitable and efficient manner through proper utilization of assigned manpower, materials, equipment, and space. Is responsible for coordinating all activities within his scope of control and for setting priorities necessary to accomplish predetermined goals.


Essential Functions and Responsibilities:


  • 1. Supervises hourly employees performing various production operations.

  • 2. Administers all rules, programs and procedures that pertain to direct reports.

  • 3. Responsible for on-the-job training of employees including back up operators and completing the required documentation.

  • 4. Instructs new or reassigned employees in the safe and efficient operation of equipment.

  • 5. Responsible for promoting and enforcing safety rules and policies. Adhering to company safety standards as they relate to daily operations.

  • 6. Responsible for the production, quality, and performance of the employees.

  • 7. Evaluates employees based on performance set forth in the evaluation guidelines and completes the require documentation.

  • 8. Recommends candidates for hire, promotion, demotion, transfer, or release.

  • 9. Responsible for maintaining labor within an assigned department levels.

  • 10. Reassigns labor on idle equipment to eliminate unfavorable labor variance.

  • 11. Observes production operation within area of control to ascertain compliance with safety, quality, production standards, work rules, and efficient operation of equipment.

  • 12. Utilizes problem solving skills and techniques and takes corrective action to eliminate any deviation.

  • 13. Reports potential production downtime, scrap production and quality of each machine under the supervisor’s responsibility and summarizes data from shift.

  • 14. Ability to meet the knowledge, skills, abilities, physical requirements, and working conditions set forth in this position description.

  • 15. Performs all other duties as assigned.


Position Requirements:

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: A bachelor’s degree is preferred. Job related experience for 3 - 5 year minimum. Required on-the-job and classroom training both internally and externally. Ability to understanding of the operating principles of all assigned equipment. Ability to identify product defects using appropriate inspection procedures and test equipment. Ability to learn customer specifications. Ability to maintain inspection equipment. Ability to effectively instruct and train other employees. Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations. Ability to operate and functionally use a computer. Must be able to organize, plan and prioritize. Ability to meet deadlines and to concentrate and pay attention to detail. Must have sufficient endurance to perform tasks over long periods of time. Must have strong interpersonal skills. Must be able to handle sensitive related and proprietary information in a confidential manner. Performs such individual assignments as management may direct. Must follow company policies, procedures, practices, and standards of conduct as outlined in the Amcor Corporation manuals. Maintains an awareness of and complies with hazardous waste management and other environmental management requirements in the workplace by attending scheduled training sessions. Must maintain professional competence, ethical integrity, knowledge, and skills. Action Oriented. Working Conditions:

Works in manufacturing environments. 12 hour shifts. Overtime is required. This position is exposed to occupational hazards, including but not limited to high noise levels, physical obstacles, exposure to chemicals. Must wear appropriate safety glasses, hearing protection, clothing, and footwear in appropriate areas and follow safety practices.


Physical Requirements:

This position regularly requires a high degree of mental effort due to considerable interruptions and/or frequent changes of activity or workloads during a typical working day. Must be able to walk continuously throughout the production areas, the tunnel, and climb stairs.


Level of Authority and Authorization:

You have the right to hold for inspection; any product you feel does not meet customer/company specifications. Authority to stop any observed unsafe practices. Those employees with authorized training have the ability to shut down/stop equipment if continued operation is a threat to any employee’s health and safety.
