Job summary

Amcor LLC is seeking a line operations professional to maintain production lines, maximize output, and minimize scrap while ensuring safety and quality. The role involves training staff, acting as backup supervisor, and driving safety initiatives across the shift.

You will be responsible for line startup/shutdown, paperwork accuracy, and addressing mechanical/electrical issues to meet product specifications. Collaboration and communication are essential for success.

Qualifications

  • Ability to use hand tools and measuring instruments.
  • Knowledge of extrusion process.
  • Ability to calibrate machines and understand different systems.
  • Ability to wear all required PPE (steel toed shoes, hearing protection, safety glasses, and other PPE as required).
  • Ability to lift up to 65lbs.
  • Ability to read and understand work orders.
  • Knowledge in navigating different computer programs.
  • Ability to obtain forklift license.
  • Ability to work OT to support a 24/7 site.
  • Language skills: read and comprehend simple instructions, simple checklists, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Reasoning skills: solve practical problems with limited standardization.

  • Manage line changes and product specifications.
  • Handle sizing, grading and color changes as required.
  • Support 24/7 site operations.

Job Description

Job Summary: The general scope of this position’s responsibility is to maintain line production, maximize output with minimal scrap. Produce quality film which passes all quality assurance testing. Train employees in the areas of Safety, Quality, Productivity and Housekeeping. Act as backup supervisor in the absence of the Shift Supervisor.

Essential Functions
  • Follow all Company policies regarding safety, quality and attendance.
  • Perform duties in a safe manner and report all observed safety hazards to management.
  • Act as a role model for Safety on the shift.
  • Participate in safety programs by reporting Unsafe Conditions, Unsafe Acts and Close Calls; enter Near Miss data and Observations into Global Data Center database (GDC).
  • Accountable for the safety of all employees for whom they are responsible through active engagement in safety activities and provides clear, consistent communication of safe work expectations.
  • Supports and investigates situations in which line/equipment stoppage occurs due to perceived, imminent safety risk.
  • Completes responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and procedures, and applicable laws.
  • Actively leads risk assessment activities for their area of responsibility by driving prioritized corrective and preventive actions to eliminate/reduce environmental, health or safety risks.
  • Assist and/or Lead all required meetings with safety (i.e. Pre-shift, Department, Change Management, General communication, Town Hall, etc..) in the absence of the Supervisor.
  • Completes incident investigations, root cause analysis and implements corrective actions accordingly in a timely and thorough manner.
  • Ensures the proper training and development of all assigned employees for whom they are responsible.
  • Motivates and coaches employees through good communication and frequent performance feedback.
  • Identifies and coordinates additional training as needed.
  • Responsible for proper startup/shutdown of line.
  • Responsible for checking all line paperwork.
  • Perform training for employees, especially operators.
  • Responsible for troubleshooting process, mechanical and electrical problems.
  • Responsible for size and gauge changes.
  • Responsible for grade changes, including color changes.
  • Responsible for running product to product specifications.
  • Wear proper PPE, personal protective equipment.
  • Other tasks as assigned by Management or Supervisor.
Education / Skills / Experience
  • Ability to use hand tools and measuring instruments
  • Knowledge of extrusion process

  • Ability to work OT to support a 24/7 site Level III Evaluation completed or grandfathered status required
  • Language skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, simple checklists, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and present information in one-on-one and in small group situations.
  • Mathematical skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ration and percent.
  • Reasoning skills: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral diagram, or schedule form.

Employee may reach, climb, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, bend or twist up to 66% of the work shift.
