Universal Pure in Ohio is seeking a Production Supervisor to lead manufacturing staff in a cold, regulated facility. You will plan, assign, and monitor work, ensuring safety, quality, and productivity while fostering teamwork.

The role requires at least three years of supervisory experience in manufacturing, preferably food production, with strong Excel and ERP/Kronos experience. Overnight shifts are included in a 4-10 schedule.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • MS Excel and HMI computer skills.
  • Ability to read, write and comprehend English.
  • Supervisory experience with teams of 12+ people.
  • Experience in regulated environments (OSHA, FDA, USDA).
  • Overnight shift experience preferred.
  • Experience with NetSuite/Kronos for work orders and KPIs.

The supervisor has a hands‑on leadership approach in the company and the company’s product‑making activities.

This role runs a "4-10s" weekly schedule: 7:30PM to 6:00AM Monday to Thursday
Major Tasks, Responsibilities, And Key Accountabilities
  • Balances quality, productivity, cost, safety, and morale to achieve results in all areas
  • Works to continuously improve in all areas
  • Provides regular progress reports to the manager
  • Ensures effective employee relations.
  • Provides employee coaching and development
  • Makes employment decisions.
  • Resolves employee issues through problem resolution
  • Performs accident investigations
  • Tracks absenteeism and timekeeping
  • Accomplish manufacturing staff results by planning, monitoring, communicating job expectations, and appraising job results; counseling, disciplining, and coaching employees; coordinating, initiating, and enforcing systems, procedures, and policies
  • Maintain staff by recruiting, orienting, selecting, and training employees; and developing personal growth opportunities for them
  • Maintain workflow by setting process variables, monitoring steps of the process; observing equipment and control points; monitoring resources and personnel; developing reporting systems and procedures, studying methods; facilitating corrections to malfunctions, implementing cost reductions; initiating and developing a spirit of cooperation between and within departments
  • Ensure the operation of equipment by evaluating new equipment and calling for repairs of old equipment
  • Provide manufacturing information by sorting, initiating, compiling, and analyzing production performance data and records
  • Educate and direct employees on the use of equipment, all control points, and resource
  • Handle additional duties as assigned by Production Manager
Additional Responsibilities
  • Provide support and guidance to direct reports
  • Performs monthly training with the team
  • Leads all safety initiatives in the area
Requirements
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Minimum three years of leadership experience is highly preferred
  • Minimum three years in manufacturing environments with a strong preference for food production industry experience
  • Candidates with previous overnight shift experience highly preferred
  • Experience with NetSuite, Kronos or other systems and applications for work orders and KPIs
  • Leadership – the ability to command and maintain the attention of those you are overseeing
  • Effective communication – the ability to convincingly convey instructions, directions, and details to others
  • Attention to detail – the ability to manage all duties, rules, documentation, and other components of the job with focus and accuracy
  • Confidentiality – the ability to protect data, information, and employee privacy
  • Preference for candidates that have worked in cold storage or other cold environments
  • Experience working with a multi‑lingual workforce (Spanish, Creole/Haitian, etc.) strongly preferred
Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must have computer skills, MS Excel spreadsheet; HMI
  • Ability to read, write and comprehend the English language
  • Supervisory experience with teams of at least 12 people or more
  • Experience working in a heavily regulated environment or other governmental regulations; incident and accident prevention (OSHA, FDA, USDA, etc.)
Working Conditions
  • This role operates in a wet and cold/refrigerated environment (around 35 degrees F) located within a manufacturing, warehousing, and production type facility. Must be able to withstand cold temperatures for extended periods of time.
  • This is largely a static role with standing; however, the ability to perform repetitive bending and standing up is also required. This would require the ability to lift 10-35 lbs. repetitively and up to 45 lbs. occasionally. Depending on the area, must also be able to push/pull up to 250 lbs. on rollers occasionally.

Universal Pure facilities may process, pack, and store products containing allergenic food ingredients as referenced by FDA, team members who may come in direct contact, must be able to work with these ingredients.
