Job summary

Viant Wheeling facility is seeking a Production Supervisor to lead manufacturing operations, ensuring safety, quality, and on-time performance. You will guide issue resolution, align lines with master schedules, and manage metrics while driving continuous improvement.

The role requires 3+ years of supervisory experience in a machining environment (CNC/Swiss) and strong Lean manufacturing knowledge. Onsite role with focus on team development and operational excellence.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of supervisory experience in manufacturing.
  • 3+ years in a machining environment (CNC or Swiss).
  • Experience with lathes, mills, grinders, laser, robotics, and automation.
  • Knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership to ensure safety, quality, and policy adherence.
  • Guide resolution of production issues to meet weekly schedules.
  • Synchronize production lines with master schedule and material planning.
  • Establish and monitor departmental metrics and progress updates.
  • Close work orders in Oracle and maintain data integrity.
  • Coach and develop team members, recruit, and implement corrective actions.
  • Maintain open communication about production and team achievements.
  • Foster inclusion, conflict resolution, and professional development.
  • Adapt to business needs and take on additional responsibilities.
  • Support Six Sigma and Lean initiatives and collaborate with Engineers.

About the role:

The Production Supervisor offers essential leadership and guidance at the operational level, overseeing performance assessment and addressing challenges within designated areas of the facility. Furthermore, the supervisor cultivates an environment characterized by inclusivity, transparent communication, and trust, thereby enhancing team development and employee engagement.

Work Model:Monday – Friday, 100% onsite

We offer market competitive compensation. Potential salary range for this role is $90k-$100k. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.

What you’ll do:
  • Complies with Viant Values, emphasizing safety, quality standards, and adherence to policies and procedures.
  • Provides guidance with the resolution of technical and production issues to ensure that weekly schedules are completed in alignment with Company and Customer expectations.
  • Develops and oversees the synchronization of products or production lines with the master production schedule and material planning to achieve production objectives.
  • Establishes and monitors departmental performance metrics, including visual controls, and provides regular updates on progress.
  • Ensure that work orders are accurately closed in Oracle and that data integrity is maintained.
  • Supervises team members in a manner that promotes a safe working environment and encourages a self-directed team approach.
  • Offers leadership to team members in various aspects, including recruitment, performance management, coaching, counseling, and implementing corrective actions.
  • Maintains ongoing communication regarding production, facility, and team member achievements and concerns.
  • Facilitates communication, coordination, and conflict resolution within and between work groups.
  • Fosters a culture of diversity, inclusion, open communication, and trust, creating opportunities for training and professional development.
  • Remain adaptable to the business’ needs and undertake additional responsibilities as required.
  • Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing Methodologies:
    • Assist in analyzing production and related processes, offering recommendations for enhancements and organizing process improvement initiatives through the application
    • Collaborates with Engineers to analyze production and related processes, providing recommendations for improvements and organizing process enhancement activities
    • Identifies, organizes, and/or delivers training to ensure a safe, efficient, and high-quality work environment, focusing on continuous improvement
  • Encourages an environment of inclusion, open communication, and trust to support team development and enhance associate engagement.
Requirements
Knowledge/Education:
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Bachelor’s degree in Operations/Engineering or Business preferred
Job Experience:
  • 3+ years of supervisory experience in Manufacturing Environment
  • 3+ years in Machining environment, CNC or Swiss machines
Skills/Competencies
  • Experience in Medical/Pharma environments
  • Ability to plan and manage various aspects of the operation for the safe environment and profitable growth
  • Strong organizational, time management and communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Strong problem-solving skills: the ability to ask the right questions, help frame logical conclusions and arrive at effective solutions
  • Exhibits a high level of energy and possesses excellent interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated experience teaching and coaching the application of continuous improvement and analytical skills
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing Principles
  • Proficient in MS Office with advanced Excel competence
  • Rapid Response experience preferred
Physical Requirements
  • Working on the production floor of either sitting, walking and standing
  • Occasional lifting up to 25lbs
