Job summary

NSG Group is seeking a production supervisor in the coatings division at our Luckey, Ohio facility. The role focuses on maintaining efficient production, troubleshooting processes and equipment, and coordinating maintenance projects to ensure smooth operations.

The position requires 3–5 years of supervisory experience and at least 2 years of technical post-secondary education or equivalent experience. You will lead safety initiatives, train staff, and uphold company policies while driving

Qualifications

• Minimum two years of additional post high school education, or equivalent experience in a technical field.
• Minimum 3–5 years of supervisory experience, preferred.
• Minimum 90 days of training with qualified Coatings Supervisor, Coatings Process Improver, Bath and Lehr Process Improver or Coating Manager.
• Familiarity with plant safety procedures/policies, including first aid, CPR, Hazmat, and hepatitis B vaccinations (optional).
• Understanding of plant rules including pay procedures, disciplinary policies, and overtime rules.

Responsibilities

• Manage and maintain efficient production; troubleshoot processes and equipment.
• Coordinate maintenance and supervise projects; write work orders for repairs.
• Monitor operating conditions and ensure targets using ERS and Eurotherm tools.
• Maintain records of process parameters, performance, and maintenance activities.
• Lead safety audits and coordinate employee involvement in process improvements.

Job description

Duties:

• Manage and maintain efficient production by performing tasks including, but not limited to, process and equipment trouble shooting, raw material storage change-out, and operation of hot and cold end thickness/color monitors.
• Maintains required production supplies by writing purchase and stores requisition to acquire necessary equipment and supplies in a timely manner.
• Monitor various graphs and charts of daily operating conditions to ensure stability of the operation. Assure process targets for Coatings and Glassmaking by using ERS and Eurotherm trending and monitoring tools as a guide
• Maintains daily records of, but not limited to, process parameters and/or changes, and personnel records, process performance numbers, and daily maintenance activities.
• Coordinates the efforts of maintenance personnel as required to maintain production equipment, including, but not limited to, supervising maintenance projects, coater rebuilds, and writing work orders for non-emergency repairs and daily projects.
• Audit employees on the basics of their specific job and the fundamentals of the coatings and float process. The basics of the job include but are not limited to rounds, routines, housekeeping assignments, control room operations, etc.
• Promotes Coatings and Glassmaking department adherence to Pilkington policies related to safety, health, environment, and working conditions to insure maximum safety of employees and surrounding community.
• Maintain positive labor relations with hourly employees and resolves issues of contention, when possible.
• Takes leadership role in employee involvement and safety coordination for Department, including facilitating employee scheduling for required physical testing.
• Takes leadership role in employee involvement with process or procedural innovations, and changes for department.
• Conducts safety audits as required and holds crew meetings to keep hourly personnel informed as to plant and corporate goals, results, and plans.
• Perform special projects as assigned by Hot End Supervisor Team Lead or Other Production Management to improve quality and/or yield, reduce cost, and improve training.
• Assists Shift Manager with thickness, product transition communication with other production departments

Selection Criteria:

• Minimum two years of additional post high school education, or equivalent experience in a technical field.
• Minimum of 3 - 5 years of supervisory experience, preferred.
• Minimum 90 days of training with qualified Coatings Supervisor, Coatings Process Improver, Bath and Lehr Process Improver or Coating Manager.
• Demonstrate the ability to perform the below tasks through on the job training and/or practical application.
• Overview of all necessary plant and department safety procedures/policies, with additional safety training in first aid, CPR, Hazmat, and optional hepatitis B vaccinations.
• Overview of all plant rules and regulations, including but not limited to, personnel pay procedures, disciplinary policies, and overtime rules.
• Overview of all process operations, equipment, and troubleshooting.
