Job summary

Unigen Corporation in Newark, California is seeking a Production Supervisor – Day Shift to coordinate production activities and lead Production personnel on the shop floor. This onsite role reports to the Production and Warehouse Operations Manager and is based in Newark, CA.

The position requires a BS degree or equivalent, at least 5 years of supervision in CM EMS and 3 years in SMT manufacturing, with a focus on process improvement, safety, quality, and on-time delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate production workload and execute the Production Master Plan.
  • Identify and resolve bottlenecks to continuously improve processes.
  • Delegate tasks and manage schedules to meet unit goals.
  • Coordinate production with Warehouse and Repair Center and manage budgets.
  • Monitor inputs/outputs to ensure timely task completion.
  • Manage controllable operating expenditure such as scrap and consumables.
  • Supervise production groups, manage workload and overtime.
  • Train new hires and cross-train existing staff.
  • Perform headcount reviews and plan temporary workforce.
  • Develop and maintain performance metrics and handle appraisals.
  • Interpret policies and guide team with clear instructions.
  • Participate in interviewing and hiring decisions.
  • Maintain mandatory training records.
  • Develop, control, and document key production processes and tools.
  • Create standard templates for process documents.
  • Contribute to annual production objectives and plans.
  • Update online databases, reports, and studies.
  • Analyze production issues and propose corrective actions.
  • Coordinate actions with stakeholders and share results.
  • Represent the group in cross-functional planning.
  • Interpret customer requirements and guide the team.

Job Overview

The Production Supervisor coordinates production and supervises and develops Production personnel. In compliance with internal standards and procedures, the Production Supervisor implements and documents production improvement solutions. Reports to Production and Warehouse Operations Manager. Located in Newark, CA.

Primary Job Responsibilities
  1. Coordinate production process and activities:
    • Plan and coordinate workload for assigned Production groups
    • Execute Production Master Plan
    • Identify limits to production and guide teams to continuously improve processes; identify and resolve bottlenecks in the production process
    • Delegate assignments in the form of tasks and goals and follow established processes to meet the goals of the unit
    • Coordinate production jobs with aligned groups in Warehouse and Repair Center; execute budgets, develop work and production schedules
    • Monitor workstation inputs and outputs, ensuring timely completion of scheduled tasks
    • Manage controllable operating expenditure e.g., scrap, consumables
  2. Supervise the personnel of the assigned Production groups:
    • Assess and manage time and workload, direct and deploy subordinates to perform assigned tasks based on process changes and customer requirements; approve overtime schedules and working hours
    • Train new hires, cross-train existing employees: develop work instructions, conduct on-job and other types of training
    • Perform headcount reviews, overtime analysis and plan for / manage temporary workforce
    • Develop and maintain performance metrics and manage performance of the Production personnel, review employees’ performance and recommend employee compensation and disciplinary actions as necessary
    • Interpret and enforce policies and procedures related to the functional area through clear instructions, tasks and guidance
    • Select Production personnel according to the workforce needs and plan, actively participate in the interviewing and hiring process and decision-making
    • Develop and maintain mandatory training records
  3. Support improvement of Production process and system:
    • Develop, control, monitor, and document key production processes and tools: set-up, wave solder, de-panel, rework, touch up, product testing and pack-out, quality inspection, box build assembly and others and continuous process improvements
    • Create and maintain standard templates for process documents
    • Provide input into annual production objectives and plans
    • Update and maintain online databases, reports, worksheets, and studies
  4. Provide support and share expertise cross-functionally:
    • Provide data analysis of existing production issues and propose solutions
    • Plan and execute corrective actions with all stakeholders, evaluate and share results
    • Represent the assigned Production group in cross-functional planning, cooperation and problem solving
    • Interpret customer requirements and internal guidelines to team members, assist them with acquiring knowledge and putting in practice
Key Requirements and Qualifications
  • BS Degree or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of related production supervisory experience in CM EMS industry.
  • Minimum 3 years of working experience in SMT manufacturing

Salary Range: $80K - $95K Per Annum
