Job Details

Job Title: Process Engineer (Day Shift)

Department: Manufacturing Engineering (ME)

Job Overview: The Manufacturing Process Engineer develops, implements, and qualifies manufacturing processes, equipment, equipment programming, software, and tools used by engineering and production. The Manufacturing Process Engineer ensures processes are established and equipment is programmed and operated at optimal efficiency. Reports to Sr. Manager, Manufacturing Engineering. Located in Newark, CA.

Primary Responsibilities
  1. Develop, implement and maintain processes & equipment related to SMT:
    • Support program development and implementation of processes for SMT technicians and process technicians to follow;
    • Support manufacturing engineers with developing any processes and tools necessary for new product introductions;
    • Support design engineering with mechanical designs for any new product design which includes designing and defining PCB outline, tolerances and keep-outs, hardware design, panelization design, and thermal analysis of new products
    • Update calibration and PM procedures and forms within the Quality Management System as needed
    • Developing detailed reports or instructions to show how to calibrate/PM a new machine
    • Review all equipment specification information for completeness and appropriateness for the usage of the equipment
  2. Manage and maintain SMT systems to support the manufacturing process:
    • Manage programming of all machines
    • Manage to troubleshoot and debugging of any hardware or program-related issues for machines, related software and program libraries;
    • Qualify equipment to ensure the fulfillment of all requirements including IQ/OQ/PQ validation and verification activities. Ability to create and execute quality documentation for internally and externally designed production equipment
    • Support and troubleshoot any issues that arise for SMT production and SMT technicians in day to day activities;
    • May design and develop new hardware required for new OEM products;
    • Responsible to secure inactive equipment/tools in the designated storage areas and archiving the corresponding files
  3. Provide support and share expertise cross-functionally:
    • Create manufacturing instructions for mechanical hardware related assemblies; provide quality improvement plans and/or corrective and preventive actions to the Quality Control Team; guide SMT operators and repair technicians on SMT equipment
  4. Lead and manage the personnel of the SMT & equipment support team:
    • Manage the SMT technician group; select, develop and evaluate personnel to ensure efficient operation of the function
  5. Other duties and responsibilities related to ME function, as assigned
Job Qualifications and Requirements
  1. BS in Engineering degree and/or related certifications
  2. Must have knowledge of metrology skills including a sound understanding of dimensional tolerances and usage of precise mechanical measurement instruments
  3. Must demonstrate ability to be accurate and identify procedural inaccuracies and make recommendations for ongoing improvements and effectively implement changes
  4. Must demonstrate ability to work independently, make effective decisions, and resolve technical issues
  5. Must demonstrate effective verbal and written communication and be able to effectively interact with all levels of the organization across all departments and proactively identify issues and recommendations improvements
  6. Must demonstrate the ability to work effectively in teams to achieve results
  7. Strong knowledge of SMT processes and component / PCA manufacturability
  8. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Products such as Word and Excel or equivalent software applications is preferred
