Job summary

Pendleton Woolen Mills is seeking a Manufacturing Supervisor to lead day-to-day production in a fast-paced, union setting. You will supervise staff, enforce the CBA, and ensure safety, quality, cost, and delivery targets are met on the production floor.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of production management experience in a unionized environment.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 including Outlook and Excel, and timekeeping systems.

  • Support QMS requirements, audits, and continuous improvement efforts.

Job description

The Manufacturing Supervisor is responsible for leading day-to-day production operations in a fast-paced, union manufacturing environment. This role ensures safety, quality, cost, and delivery expectations are consistently met while directly supervising employees and enforcing company policies and the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA). Supervisors are accountable for maintaining consistent standards in employee management, documentation, discipline, and operational execution within their assigned area of responsibility.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB
  • Supervise and coordinate daily production activities to ensure safe, efficient operations
  • Enforce safety standards and address unsafe conditions immediately
  • Assign work, set priorities, and adjust staffing to meet production goals
  • Monitor quality and ensure products meet specifications
  • Train and coach employees, verify understanding and application of job tasks and procedures, and provide feedback and corrective direction as needed
  • Apply company policies, work rules, and the Collective Bargaining Agreement consistently and fairly
  • Administer progressive discipline in line with established guidelines
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of performance, attendance, and incidents
  • Review and enforce timekeeping and attendance requirements

QUALIFICATIONS (The training, education, and/or experience necessary to fulfill the job)
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Working knowledge of workplace safety practices and the ability to enforce established safety policies and procedures
  • Minimum of five years of production management experience, preferably overseeing multiple shifts in a unionized environment.
  • Experience with performance management, employee coaching, corrective action, and employee documentation
  • Strong written and verbal communication, leadership, problem-solving, and conflict-resolution skills
  • Ability to lead a diverse workforce, address employee concerns, and resolve issues promptly and professionally
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365, including Outlook and Excel, and the ability to effectively use company timekeeping and other business systems
  • Experience monitoring and achieving performance KPIs; knowledge of Lean or similar continuous improvement practices preferred
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 or an equivalent Quality Management System (QMS) preferred
WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • Work is performed primarily on the production floor in a textile manufacturing environment with exposure to industrial machinery, moving equipment, noise, airborne textile fibers, and varying temperatures
  • Requires frequent standing, walking, and movement throughout the facility, with occasional lifting, pushing, or pulling of materials as needed.
  • Requires use of appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including hearing protection and safety footwear.
  • Requires continuous awareness of operations and the ability to respond promptly to safety, production, equipment, and employee issues.
  • Work is performed in a fast-paced environment requiring sustained attention, sound judgment, and compliance with all safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
