Job summary

MacLean-Fogg is hiring a Production Supervisor for our Mount Carroll, IL facility. You will lead production staff, coach teams, and drive safe, efficient operations while supporting quality, planning, maintenance, and continuous improvement.

You will oversee shift-wide activities, monitor performance, and collaborate with planning, maintenance, engineering, and QA to meet production goals and standards. This role requires a strong background in manufacturing and leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field.
• 5+ years in production/manufacturing; 2+ years in supervision.
• Understanding of manufacturing processes and equipment.
• Ability to read schedules, work orders, and technical docs.
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing.
• Mechanical aptitude to identify issues and coordinate maintenance.
• Experience with MES/ERP or inventory systems.
• Proven leadership and coaching ability.
• Strong verbal and written communication.
• Conflict resolution and decision-making skills.

Job Summary

MacLean-Fogg is hiring a Production Supervisor - 3rd Shift for our Mount Carroll, Illinois manufacturing facility. In this role, you will lead production employees and coordinate safe, efficient operations while supporting quality, productivity, staffing, materials, and continuous improvement. You will also coach employees and collaborate with production planning, maintenance, engineering, and quality teams.

• Pay: $68,000-$72,000/year, depending on experience

• Employment Type: Full-time / Salary

What You'll Do as a Production Supervisor

• Supervise and lead production employees responsible for operating machinery, assembling products, performing quality checks, and packaging goods in line with production goals and schedules.

• Provide guidance, coaching, and training to new employees while supporting the continued development and performance of existing team members.

• Monitor production output and performance to help ensure quantity, quality, and efficiency targets are met, while coordinating work across shifts and departments to maintain workflow and meet deadlines.

• Identify equipment issues and coordinate with maintenance or engineering teams when repairs or preventive maintenance are needed to help minimize production downtime.

• Oversee inventory levels within the assigned area and work with production planning to help ensure appropriate staffing and materials are available to meet operational requirements.

• Oversee quality control checks and collaborate with quality assurance teams to help ensure products meet established quality standards.

• Promote compliance with safety, environmental, and quality policies while maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient work environment and reinforcing 5S principles.

• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and complete required production documentation accurately and on time, including shift reports, inventory logs, and safety audits.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree.

• At least 5 years of experience in a production or manufacturing environment, including at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.

• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, production flow, and equipment operation.

• Ability to read and interpret production schedules, work orders, and technical documentation.

• Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles.

• Basic mechanical aptitude to recognize equipment issues and eliminate them to maintenance when needed.

• Proficiency with manufacturing software such as MES, ERP, or inventory management systems.

• Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and develop a diverse production team.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills for coaching, reporting, and cross-department collaboration.

• Effective conflict-resolution and decision-making skills.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

This role involves working in a manufacturing environment and standing or walking for extended periods of 8-12 hours per shift.

Employees in this role may lift, carry, push, or pull materials weighing 25-50 pounds as needed and may occasionally bend, reach, stoop, twist, or climb while overseeing production activities.
