Position Summary

Reporting to the Production Manager, the Production Supervisor manages a team and is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these employees. Supervisory responsibilities are carried out in accordance with the company policies and include directing workflow to meet customer orders. Shift: 3rd Shift, 11:00pm – 7:30am.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Provide first‑level leadership, support, coaching and direction to the manufacturing team.
  • Plan the flow of materials through the department and analyze production work orders to assign labor and create equipment operating schedules that meet both internal and external needs.
  • Establish and sustain effective relationships with all employees to foster an environment of problem solving and continuous improvement using LEAN Manufacturing principles.
  • Suggest changes in working conditions and equipment usage to increase departmental efficiency.
  • Facilitate effective sharing of information across production teams, planning, maintenance, warehouse, and customer service to ensure customer deadlines are met.
  • Interview, hire, and train employees; appraise performance.
  • Use the ERP system to ensure scheduled orders are completed and resolve inventory issues, including cycle counts.
  • Ensure policies and procedures are followed consistently.
  • Analyze and resolve work problems, coaching employees to exceed safety, quality, and customer service metrics while managing cost.
  • Maintain time and production records.
  • Reward and discipline employees and address safety, quality, or complaint issues.
  • Report production, safety, or quality incidents and downtime daily.
  • Write procedures and SOPs, and support their implementation and training.
  • Manage quality and quantity of production output, employee training, and skills assessment/development.
  • Interface with maintenance, planning, quality control, accounting, HR, and R&D departments.
  • Collaborate with the Plant Manager and other departments on improvement or capital projects.
  • Ensure plant personnel follow safe work habits and safety rules.
Qualifications & Skills Required
  • High School diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Production Management, or related field preferred. Three years of production experience in a manufacturing environment desirable, with strong food manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Practical experience with LEAN manufacturing principles.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
  • Basic math skills: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, rate, ratio, percent, and interpretation of bar graphs.
  • Ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions provided in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to solve problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • General computer skills (Word, Excel, etc.) and ability to learn new applications as needed.

Salary Range: $85,000 to $115,000 (actual compensation will depend on geography, skills, experience, and other factors).
