Job summary

Milwaukee Tool is seeking a 2nd Shift Production Supervisor to oversee the production of our product through several phases performed internally and externally. You will schedule work orders, manage staff hours, and coordinate with HR, Engineering, and the Production Manager to meet forecasted demand and on-time delivery.

You will drive lean improvements, ensure safety compliance, monitor costs, train leads, and lead problem-solving efforts to optimize flow and quality on the manufacturing floor.

Qualifications

  • Production experience of 5 years minimum.
  • Bachelor's degree in manufacturing management or equivalent experience.
  • Previous supervisory experience and managing teams of employees.
  • Experience with production scheduling.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing Principles.
  • Knowledge of inventory costing concepts.
  • Understanding of the Pareto principle and philosophy.
  • English skills to understand quality, safety, work instructions, personnel information, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule Work Orders needed for daily production requirements for various work cells.
  • Maintain production staff hours and schedules including logging attendance notes.
  • Coordinate with HR regarding production staff needs including temporary employees.
  • Provide performance feedback to Supervisors and Managers on team members.
  • Train new Production Team Leads.
  • Communicate with Production Manager and Engineering on equipment and process issues.
  • Adhere to safety standards including PPE and OSHA guidelines.
  • Ensure proper costing of inventory through production processes.
  • Oversee training of Leads and staff on proper use of equipment.
  • Work with Safety Manager to ensure safety policies are followed.
  • Participate in continuous improvement efforts and lead kaizen events.
  • Identify points of failure in production flow and implement countermeasures.
  • Oversee improvement of One-Piece Flow in each work cell.
  • Help implement KPIs and visual management on the production floor.
  • Ensure work cells perform to best practices while maintaining quality.
  • Responsible for order management and communicate changes to Team Leads.
  • Assist Manager with monthly, quarterly and annual forecast creation.
  • Assign daily work and prioritize workload to meet internal and external demand.
  • Resolve schedule challenges by coordinating with departments.
  • Develop programs to ensure quality standards are met before products leave.
  • Maintain Pareto principle practices in production.
  • Complete special projects with a positive attitude and deadlines.
