Qualifications

Responsibilities

Title: Production Supervisor - 2nd Shift

Location: Montebello, CA

Position Overview

Lead and manage 2nd shift production operations to meet safety, quality, and output targets. The Production Supervisor is responsible for coordinating daily manufacturing activities with a focus on sheet metal and extruded product lines driving continuous improvement through Lean methods, minimizing downtime, and developing a high-performing team to consistently deliver customer requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and lead 2nd shift production staff, including scheduling, task assignment, coaching, and performance management.
• Ensure production targets, quality standards, and on-time delivery are met while controlling costs and scrap.
• Implement and sustain Lean manufacturing practices (5S, Kaizen, standardized work) to improve throughput and reduce waste.
• Monitor and analyze production KPIs (yield, cycle time, uptime) and take corrective actions to address variances.
• Maintain strict adherence to safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements; lead safety meetings and investigations.
• Coordinate with maintenance and engineering to troubleshoot equipment issues and plan preventive maintenance to minimize downtime.
• Ensure material flow and inventory control on shift; communicate material needs to planning and purchasing.
• Train operators on processes, machine setup, and quality inspection criteria; ensure proper documentation and shift handovers.
• Collaborate with other shifts, quality, and engineering to drive continuous improvement projects and new product introductions.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; technical diploma or associate degree in manufacturing/engineering preferred.
• 3+ years of manufacturing experience with at least 12 years in a supervisory role; experience in sheet metal and/or extruded product environments strongly preferred.
• Proven experience applying Lean manufacturing tools and continuous improvement methodologies (5S, Kaizen, root cause analysis).
• Strong technical aptitude: ability to read blueprints, understand process parameters, and work with production equipment.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with a focus on coaching and developing team members.
• Demonstrated problem-solving skills and experience using production metrics to drive improvements.
• Familiarity with safety standards (OSHA) and quality systems; experience working with ERP/MRP systems and basic computer skills (MS Office).
• Willingness to work 2nd shift hours and occasionally support other shifts or overtime as needed.
