Job summary

• Associate degree or higher in manufacturing/engineering or related field.
• 5+ years of manufacturing experience with 3+ years leading production teams.
• Proven track record in safety, quality, delivery, labor and cost management.
• Experience with Lean and structured root-cause problem solving.
• Strong coaching, communication and performance-management skills.
• Proficient with ERP/MES and timekeeping systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and develop production employees to meet safety, quality, delivery, cost and productivity goals.
• Plan daily staffing and work assignments based on requirements and equipment.
• Enforce safe work practices, including PPE, lockout/tagout, machine guarding, and procedures.
• Monitor output, downtime, scrap, rework, labor efficiency, and schedule attainment.
• Use data and root-cause methods to resolve issues in equipment, process, and workflow.
• Drive Lean initiatives such as 6S, standard work, visual management, kaizen, and waste reduction.
• Partner with Quality, Maintenance, Engineering, Materials, Supply Chain, and HR to resolve issues.
• Set clear expectations and provide coaching, recognition, and corrective action.
• Coordinate onboarding, training, and cross-training for employees.
• Ensure accurate production reporting, timekeeping, attendance tracking, and shift handoffs.
• Maintain a clean, organized, safe, audit-ready production environment.

About the Opportunity

Carlisle Brake & Friction is seeking an experienced Production Supervisor to lead manufacturing operations at our Medina, Ohio facility. This hands-on leadership role is responsible for building a strong safety culture, developing employees, achieving production goals, and driving measurable improvements in quality, delivery, productivity, and cost.

The ideal candidate is a visible, results-oriented leader who holds people accountable, recognizes strong performance, solves problems at the source, and works effectively across departments.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and develop production employees to achieve safety, quality, delivery, cost, and productivity goals.
• Plan daily staffing and work assignments based on production requirements, employee capabilities, and equipment availability.
• Promote and enforce safe work practices, including PPE, lockout/tagout, machine guarding, and plant safety procedures.
• Monitor production output, downtime, scrap, rework, labor efficiency, and schedule attainment.
• Use data and structured root-cause methods to resolve equipment, process, quality, and workflow issues.
• Drive Lean manufacturing initiatives, including 6S, standard work, visual management, kaizen, waste reduction, and continuous improvement.
• Partner with Quality, Maintenance, Engineering, Materials, Supply Chain, and Human Resources to resolve operational issues.
• Set clear employee expectations and provide timely coaching, recognition, performance feedback, and corrective action.
• Coordinate employee onboarding, training, cross-training, and skills development.
• Ensure accurate production reporting, timekeeping, attendance tracking, and shift handoffs.
• Maintain a clean, organized, safe, and audit-ready production environment.

Requirements

Required Qualifications

• Associate degree in manufacturing, operations, engineering, business, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
• Five or more years of manufacturing experience, including at least three years leading production employees.
• Demonstrated success managing safety, quality, delivery, labor, productivity, and cost performance.
• Experience with Lean manufacturing and structured root-cause problem-solving.
• Strong coaching, communication, conflict-resolution, and performance-management skills.
• Experience using Microsoft Office and manufacturing systems such as ERP, MES, or electronic timekeeping.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, hands-on manufacturing environment.
• Authorization to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, operations, manufacturing, business, or a related field.
• Experience in braking systems, friction materials, machining, molding, assembly, automotive, aerospace, or off-highway manufacturing.
• Knowledge of IATF 16949 or comparable ISO-based quality systems.
• Lean or Six Sigma training or certification.
• Familiarity with automated equipment, PLCs, HMIs, tooling, and preventive maintenance.

Physical and Work Environment

This position works in an active manufacturing environment and regularly requires standing and walking. Occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds may be required. Employees may be exposed to moving machinery, airborne particles, manufacturing chemicals, and varying noise levels. Required personal protective equipment must be worn.
