Summary:
The Production Supervisor is a member of the Operations leadership team and responsible for managing work teams in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The Supervisor will allocate people resources, give direction for work assignments, provide on-the-job training, ensure safety work practices are followed, provide communication and performance feedback, and drive continuous improvement solutions to improve manufacturing KPIs, including quality, cost, delivery, inventory, housekeeping, absenteeism, operational efficiency (OEE), labor, etc.

Summary:
The Production Supervisor is a member of the Operations leadership team and responsible for managing work teams in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The Supervisor will allocate people resources, give direction for work assignments, provide on-the-job training, ensure safety work practices are followed, provide communication and performance feedback, and drive continuous improvement solutions to improve manufacturing KPIs, including quality, cost, delivery, inventory, housekeeping, absenteeism, operational efficiency (OEE), labor, etc.
The Production Supervisor will demonstrate safety as a value and lead a crew of 30 - 60 employees to exceed production expectations. The Production Supervisor must be self-driven and demonstrate a commitment to safety, manufacturing excellence, and quality.
Responsibilities also include providing leadership on the production floor and striving for compliance in safety, health, environment, and quality. Also responsible for coaching, training, and developing production personnel in safety, quality, production, problem solving, and technical and interpersonal communication skills; addressing key issues and concerns; and interacting with employees to ensure quality and on-time production.
Duties:
- Supervise all employees in your department and manage the flow of production.
- Observe production operation within your area of control to ascertain compliance with methods, quality standards, safety regulations, production standards, and efficient operation of equipment.
- Take corrective action to eliminate any deviation from the pre-established hourly production rate.
- Monitor shop floor safety. Responsible for training team members in their operations and the safety requirements of that operation.
- Responsible for maintaining high standards for housekeeping, safety and general maintenance.
- Work with the Operations leadership and engineering to minimize manpower required on jobs to maximize production output. Delegation of work assignments sets expectations and monitors delegated activities.
- Work with Quality Assurance personnel to maintain superior quality productivity to reduce the need for rework, re-processing or scrap.
- Verify work standards/ set up sheets, quality checkpoint sheets and all other production related documents are present at the point of use and up to date. Must also ensure employees follow them.
- Monitor scrap on daily basis and implement corrective actions to achieve yearly scrap goals.
- Focus on improving product and process capability.
- Forward thinking and self-motivated in relation to production floor/ systems improvements.
- Involved in problem solving and corrective actions related to production issues.
- Oversee production meetings with employees in your department.
- Liaison to Team Leaders on all shifts (Coach, Lead, and Direct). Must be willing to accept phone calls during off hours.
- Able to coach and give disciplinary notices to employees when necessary.
- Update and assess employee-training matrix at all times.
- Collaborate with the Manager/HR in the administration of coaching for performance and/or behavior concerns and disciplinary action, when necessary.
- Collaborate with other functional groups, such as Maintenance and Engineering, to maintain uptime and efficiency of the production lines and machines while providing support for TPM, equipment improvements, updates, etc.
- Conduct regular communication forums with team, including daily start-of-shift and end-of-shift meetings, safety toolbox talks, production updates, alerts for safety, quality, etc.
- Monitor vacation and attendance of employees in your department. Responsible for time entry.
- Supports, enforces and complies with all company policies and procedures.
- In charge of completing performance evaluations on employees.
- Promoting a culture where safety becomes everyone’s core value and ensuring employees are working in a safe manner and adhering to the safety guidelines
- Being able to address key issues and concerns with associates’ development
- Ensuring that we produce a product that meets or exceeds our customers’ expectations
- Working with maintenance crew to maintain and sustain overall equipment effectiveness
- Driving continuous improvement in the facility
- Coordinates with the temp agencies our weekly staffing needs
- Participate in new hire screening and interviewing process for new employees
- Participate in daily OTD meetings, production meeting, weekly flash meeting, operations reviews
- Track and report production KPIs, including operational efficiency (OEE), quality, delivery, cost, labor, inventory, absenteeism, turnover, etc.
- Track and Manage attendance for assigned employees, including to approve vacation or other planned time-off and to provide coaching, counseling and/or disciplinary action related to attendance, as appropriate and in collaboration with Human Resources.

Qualifications:
To perform the job successfully, and individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education/ Experience – Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from four-year College or university; or one to two years related experience and/ or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Ability – Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Fluent in both English and Spanish preferred.
Mathematical Ability – Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interests, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning Ability - Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Computer Skills – To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Spreadsheet, word processing, Database software, and E-mail
Supervisory Responsibilities – Directly supervises 10 to 20 employees in Production. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
