Job summary

Cardinal Scale Mfg. Co. in Webb City, MO, seeks a Production Supervisor to drive production and quality in a hands-on, leadership role overseeing soldering, assembling and programming electrical components.

You will manage the department team, handle performance management and hiring, balance quality with productivity and safety, and report progress to the Plant Manager.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5–8 years in a production environment.
  • Ability to read blueprints, soldering/wiring specs, and verify part conformance to specs.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily production and quality control in the department.
  • Provide coaching and development to team members; participate in hiring within the department.
  • Balance quality, productivity, cost, safety and morale; drive continuous improvement.
  • Manage departmental performance metrics and report progress to Plant Manager.
  • Handle Quality Deficiency Reports and prioritize tasks; manage inventory levels.
  • Coordinate MRP-derived work orders; ensure timely release to shop floor.
  • Oversee assembly of electrical components per methods and specifications; manage soldering processes.

Job description

The Production Supervisor plays a key role in driving production and quality within the organization. This position is a hands-on leadership position that combines people management with real technical depth in soldering, assembling, and programming electrical components.

The Production Supervisor manages all employees of the department and is responsible for performance management and hiring within that department.

What You Will Do
  • Ensure effective employee relations and provide employee coaching / development.
  • Make employment decisions and resolve employee issues through problem resolution.
  • Balance quality, productivity, cost, safety, and morale to achieve positive results in all areas, and work to continuously improve.
  • Manage departmental performance measures, including visual controls, and provide regular progress reports to the Plant Manager.
  • Manage the department Quality Deficiency Reports.
  • Manage department priorities and maintain proper inventory levels.
  • Rectify quality problems by discussing Non-Conformances with QA and the Plant Manager to decide on necessary action to be taken.
  • Ensure jobs are running as necessary to meet proper completion time, product quality, and verify that daily job performance standards are being attained.
  • Ensure an even production line flow and verify that parts are produced to quality and production standards.
  • Print work orders for manufacturing and release to the shop floor.
  • Manage work order requirements generated by MRP, reviewing MRP messages, releasing messages to create work orders, and reviewing work order details after work order generation.
  • Manage the assembly of electrical components following predetermined methods and specifications, including the use of force measuring instruments.
  • Manage the process of soldering, de-solder, repair, and replace malfunctioning components.
What You Will Bring
  • Five to eight years of experience in a production environment.
  • Ability to read prints and schematics, with a clear understanding of blueprints, soldering, wiring, and checking products to ensure each part conforms to specifications.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Operation Management or Industrial Engineering.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
  • This is a full-time, salaried position. Hours of work are Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., 40 hours per week. Overtime may be required based on business needs.
