Job summary

Lehigh White Cement Company in Texas seeks a supervisor to oversee Control Room Operators and rotating shift process personnel, coordinating production, quality and maintenance to keep equipment running.

You will organize shift work, direct service and shipping teams in the absence of supervisors, ensure safety and quality, train staff, handle incidents, and report daily production status to the Production Manager.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Production experience in a cement plant or heavy industry.
• Understanding of cement chemistry, clinker, and raw mixes.
• Familiarity with personal computers and spreadsheet applications.

Responsibilities

• Organize shift work across production, quality and maintenance; stay informed about equipment status.
• Direct the activities of service department employees in the absence of the Service Department Supervisor.
• Direct the activities of the shipping department employees in the absence of the Shipping Supervisor.
• Ensure routine jobs are completed safely and efficiently, including overtime work.
• Assist, instruct, train or advise where necessary.
• Responsible for shift personnel performance, safety and quality of work.
• Handle accidents, notify the on-duty person and write a report before leaving the shift/plant.
• Update Production Manager daily on production status and ongoing activities.

Job description

Supervisor will directly supervise and coordinate activities of Control Room Operators and all rotating shift Process personnel.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Organize all shift work including production, quality and maintenance, [JT1] and should be at any time informed about status of production equipment.
• Organize and direct the activities of the service department employees in the absence of the Service Department Supervisor.
• Organize and direct the activities of the shipping department employees in the absence of the Shipping Supervisor.
• Organize the work, check that all routine jobs are done and done in a safe matter and follow up that all work is done efficiently and safely. This includes all types of overtime work including maintenance and labor work.
• Assist, instruct, train or advise where necessary.
• Responsible for their own shift people and their job performance, safety and quality of work.
• Handling union grievances and discipline of employees.
• Suggest changes in routines, personnel, equipment improvement, operational mode or any other item that will improve operations to the Production Manager.
• Handle any accidents, notify duty person and write a report before leaving the shift /plant.
• Update the Production Manager on a daily basis about production status and ongoing activities. Special attention should be given to events outside normal working hours.
• Responsible for inputting and approving time sheets.
• Responsible for inputting work notifications into SAP.
• Responsible for the production and operations of the Kiln, Raw Mill, and Finish Mill
• Responsible for monitoring and making process adjustments based on quality results.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• EDUCATION: High School Diploma or GED
• EXPERIENCE: Production experience in a cement plant or heavy industry
• SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE: Understanding of cement chemistry, clinker, and raw mixes
• BUSINESS UDERSTANDING: Familiarity with personal computers and spreadsheet applications
