Job Description
Summary
The Production Supervisor coordinates all activities to attain manufacturing goals consistent with safety, quality, cost, and delivery requirements. Maintains departmental and facility-wide standards and practices. The Supervisor will aid in the coordination of manufacturing activities with other facility functions such as materials, production planning, product development, product testing, customer service, maintenance, and engineering. The supervisor will be cross-functional in Food Safety to be able to perform in any area needed in the plant.
Qualifications
- Associate or Bachelor Degree
- Bi-Lingual in English and Spanish
- Knowledge of food manufacturing processes and procedures
- Knowledge of material control, utilization, and maximization
- Appropriate and effective administration of all personnel safety, food safety, quality procedures, and guidelines
- Certifications in Food Safety
- Effective communication skills
- Ability to set goals and objectives related to continuous improvement
- Working knowledge of regulatory requirements and customer standards
Duties
- Manage designated operation areas within approved guidelines, including labor, yield, line rates, and material use
- Ensure job duties are performed according to policies and procedures. Supervise and operate assigned areas successfully
- Collaborate with the Production Manager to recommend and establish policies and procedures for designated areas
- Enforce procedures, policies, work methods, equipment operation, GMPs, and safety policies
- Ensure the manufacture of safe, wholesome, and quality products in a safe and cost-effective manner
- Ensure products are produced in a timely manner
- Maintain quality and quantity standards for products produced
- Follow product specifications set by R&D and QA, report deviations immediately, and take corrective actions as needed
- Report potential problems affecting production or schedules to the Production Manager promptly
- Obtain prior approval for additional labor and staffing
- Approve vacation requests according to policy
- Participate in facility meetings as required
- Complete and submit reports within deadlines
- Perform physical activities as needed, including standing, walking, sitting, handling objects, reaching, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, talking, hearing, tasting, and smelling. Occasionally lift/move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close, distance, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
