Job summary

Morton Salt is seeking a Production Supervisor to lead day-to-day operations across product lines, ensuring compliance and efficiency in a high-safety environment.

The role requires a minimum high school diploma and 3 years of supervisory experience in manufacturing or food-related industries; preferred candidates may have a degree, 5 years' experience, Six Sigma/Lean, and SAP experience.

Responsibilities

  • Lead safety journey and maintain injury-free workplace; address root causes and conduct safety meetings.
  • Ensure EHS, MOC, GMP, and QC compliance in department/shift.
  • Conduct weekly safety and quality meetings.
  • Maintain good housekeeping in department/shift.
  • Manage engineering projects for the department/shift.
  • Troubleshoot machine issues with hourly operators.
  • Use root-cause analysis to guide repairs.
  • Own budget for department/shift; manage manpower and maintenance.
  • Oversee maintenance: create and close work orders, validate work.
  • Track machine downtime related to mechanical/electrical.
  • Ensure machines are utilized to meet/exceed production goals.

Job Summary

The Production Supervisor plays a critical role in the day-to-day production for multiple product lines, in accordance with company policies and all regulatory and corporate compliance requirements.

Duties And Responsibilities
  • Acting as a leader in the support of the Safety Journey and the Company’s Goal of Achieving an Injury-Free Workplace. Driving continuous improvement in workplace safety by promptly addressing the root causes or near misses, conducting effective safety meetings, promptly addressing safety concerns raised by employees
  • Responsible for EHS, MOC, GMP, and Q.C. Compliance in department/shift
  • Conduct weekly safety and quality meetings
  • Accountable for good housekeeping in department/shift
  • Manage engineering projects in their department/shift
  • Troubleshoot machine issues with hourly operators
  • Utilization of root cause analysis when troubleshooting equipment to ensure repairs are done correctly
  • Budget ownership for their department/shift, i.e. manpower utilization, and maintenance budget
  • Own maintenance for department/shift, including but not limited to creating work orders, validating the work is done correctly, escalating issues to management when needed, close work orders.
  • Track machine downtime related to mechanical, electrical
  • Ensure machines are properly utilized to meet and exceed production goals
Qualifications - Required
  • High school diploma or GED
  • 3 years of supervisor experience in manufacturing and/or food related industries
Qualifications - Preferred
  • Bachelor’s or Associate Degree in engineering, business, or related field
  • 5 years of supervisor experience
  • 5 years of manufacturing experience
  • Previous experience working in a food manufacturing environment
  • Six Sigma Certification
  • Lean Certification
  • SAP Experience
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements
  • Normal working schedule is Mon-Fri 3:00pm-11:00pm. Weekend and overtime may be required.
  • Works in seated or standing positions for prolonged periods of time.
  • May perform sustained manual activities at moderate to heavy levels of exertion including lifting and moving loads of a minimum of fifty (50) pounds, climbing ladders/stairs, and working on elevated platforms.
  • Works and travels throughout plant environment of varied temperatures and humidity.
  • Wears personal protective equipment as required and uses full range of motion.
  • Works in general office and manufacturing plant environments.
