Job summary

  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic systems.
  • Experience using SAP or CMMS for work orders.

Job Summary

The Maintenance Supervisor provides frontline leadership for the Fairless Hills maintenance department by supervising daily maintenance operations and leading a team of maintenance technicians. This position is responsible for planning, scheduling, assigning, and coordinating preventive, predictive, corrective, and emergency maintenance activities to ensure equipment reliability, minimize downtime, and support production objectives. The Maintenance Supervisor works closely with Operations, Engineering, Warehouse, Quality, and EHS to ensure maintenance activities are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with company standards while fostering a culture of continuous improvement and employee development.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supervise, coach, develop, and evaluate a team of hourly maintenance employees while promoting a safe, productive, and accountable work environment.
  • Plan, prioritize, schedule, and coordinate daily and weekly maintenance activities to support production requirements and maximize equipment reliability.
  • Assign and monitor preventive, predictive, corrective, and emergency maintenance work to ensure timely completion and efficient use of labor resources.
  • Coordinate maintenance schedules, planned shutdowns, and equipment repairs with Operations to minimize production downtime.
  • Review, prioritize, assign, and monitor SAP/CMMS work orders while ensuring accurate documentation, completion, and equipment history.
  • Verify the quality of completed maintenance work before equipment is returned to service and ensure repairs meet company standards.
  • Lead troubleshooting efforts and support root cause investigations to identify equipment failures and implement corrective actions that improve long-term reliability.
  • Promote continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to improve maintenance processes, equipment performance, preventive maintenance effectiveness, and overall asset reliability.
  • Ensure compliance with all company safety policies and regulatory requirements, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), confined space entry, electrical safety, and other applicable safety procedures.
  • Conduct safety meetings, observations, incident investigations, and corrective actions to maintain a safe work environment.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Production, Warehouse, Quality, EHS, contractors, and other departments to support maintenance projects, equipment modifications, and operational improvements.
  • Monitor maintenance performance metrics, including preventive maintenance compliance, equipment uptime, maintenance backlog, schedule compliance, overtime utilization, and work order completion to support departmental objectives.
  • Assist the Maintenance Manager with workforce planning, employee development, staffing recommendations, budget planning, contractor coordination, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Participate in after-hours support as needed to respond to equipment failures, production needs, and emergency maintenance situations

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Associate degree in Industrial Maintenance, Mechanical Technology, Electrical Technology, or a related technical field preferred. Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Previous supervisory or demonstrated team leadership experience in an industrial maintenance environment.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and industrial manufacturing systems.
  • Experience planning and scheduling maintenance activities, preventive maintenance programs, and equipment reliability initiatives.
  • Experience using SAP or other Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
  • Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, organizational, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects while managing changing production demands.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across multiple departments.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and industrial safety practices, including Lockout/Tagout, confined space entry, and electrical safety.
  • Experience in a union manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • This position requires an individual who can handle the stress of a fast-paced packaging and processing operation, responding to repairs on short notice and during off-hours.
  • Is flexible when scheduling maintenance work to match production demands and schedules.
  • Works in a combination of office work and standing for prolonged periods; performs office or clerical duties, including using office tools; frequently travels between office and plant environments of varied temperatures and humidity; climbs stairs; and wears personal protective equipment, as required.
  • Works in a manufacturing and packaging plant environment, requiring significant walking and travel in a large facility.
  • This position requires knowledge of industrial sites and involves outdoor work with exposure to various weather conditions. Protective gear is required as needed. This role may also require addressing urgent issues outside regular business hours, including weekends and holidays. Employees will frequently be exposed to moving mechanical parts, wet or humid conditions, high places, fumes, airborne particles, toxic chemicals, electrical hazards, and vibrations. The noise level is typically moderate. Able to lift, push, or pull up to 50 lb.
