Job summary

nVent is seeking a Second Shift Production Supervisor to coordinate and oversee production activities, ensuring targets, quality, and safety. This role requires hands-on leadership, strong organizational skills, and the ability to read engineering prints.

You will supervise workers, conduct performance discussions, and collaborate with shipping and project management to meet customer requirements. A background in metal fabrication or manufacturing is preferred.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of demonstrated leadership ability in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong planning and organization skills with understanding of manufacturing processes.
• Ability to read prints and tape measurements to 1/16”.
• Good computer skills and familiarity with common software.
• Able to work second shift after training period.

WHAT YOU WILL EXPERIENCE IN THIS POSITION:

• Coordinate production activities on second shift to ensure production targets are met.
• Supervise production employees to ensure proper training, safe work habits, quality, and efficiency.
• Perform performance reviews, development discussions, and corrective actions as appropriate.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and legal requirements regarding workplace safety, product quality, timekeeping procedures, etc.
• Ensure necessary materials are on hand for upcoming jobs.
• Confer with the appropriate personnel to resolve issues affecting production schedules and/or costs.
• Work with Shipping and Project Management to confirm customer shipping requirements and ensure all items to be shipped are accounted for.
• Perform hands-on activities as needed to assist area personnel and/or to ensure product flow.
• Assist in monitoring inventory.
• Lead or participate in special projects involving production functions and personnel.

YOU HAVE:

• 2+ years of demonstrated leadership ability, preferably in a metal fabrication or manufacturing environment.
• Strong planning and organization skills, and understanding of manufacturing processes and considerations.
• Good computer skills.
• Able to read prints and tape measurements to 1/16”.
• Able to work second shift after initial training period.
• Able to spend 2/3 of each 8-10 hour shift walking and standing in a non-air-conditioned production environment.
