Job summary

Ardent Mills is seeking a Production Supervisor to oversee day-to-day operations across packing, warehouse, and loading areas, ensuring safety and food safety compliance. You will lead a team, partner with EHS/Quality, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

You will manage shift operations, monitor quality, and collaborate with plant management to meet efficiency targets while developing staffing plans and conducting inventory checks.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or high school diploma/GED with at least 4 years of production experience.
  • Minimum of 1 year of leadership experience in an industrial environment (milling, agricultural, food production, or equivalent).
  • Demonstrated understanding of safety hazards and protocols.
  • Experience with computerized maintenance management systems.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and execute day‑to‑day operations, ensuring compliance with safety policies and food safety standards.
  • Partner with EHS and Food Safety, Quality & Regulatory experts to implement effective safety practices.
  • Monitor production outcomes, quantity, and quality to ensure customer and food safety requirements are met and provide recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Lead process improvement initiatives including Centerlining, Preventative Maintenance, Pristine, 5S, and ELEMEDS (Every Load, Every Mill, Every Day Safely).
  • Collaborate with local plant management to develop approaches for meeting and tracking efficiency standards (scorecard and metrics control, total maintenance cost, monthly compliance audits, etc.).
  • Develop workforce planning for future production needs and participate in employee selection.
  • Conduct inventory counts, correct discrepancies, and investigate corrective actions for variances.
  • Engage workforce, recognize achievements, and coach hourly members.

Essential Skills and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree or high school diploma/GED with at least 4 years of production experience
  • Minimum of 1 year of leadership experience in an industrial environment (milling, agricultural, food production, or equivalent)
  • Demonstrated understanding of safety hazards and protocols
  • Experience with computerized maintenance management systems
Good to Have
  • Knowledge of operating and troubleshooting packaging equipment and conveying systems
  • Training in Lean, Six Sigma, or other manufacturing and warehousing optimization processes
  • Reliability centered maintenance training focused on packaging equipment best practices
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
  • Perform administrative and managerial tasks at a computer
  • Wear personal protective equipment as required (safety glasses, protective footwear, hard hat, hearing protection, respirator, harness)
  • Work a rotating schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Operate in a continuous machine‑paced process 24/7 in conditions that include hot/cold temperatures, indoor or outdoor environments, dusty conditions, noise, vibration, moving equipment, and elevated places
  • Perform tasks that may require frequent standing, walking, rotating, bending, twisting, crouching, kneeling, balancing, reaching, lifting at varying heights, climbing stairs or ladders, occasional lifting, shoveling, carrying, pushing, pulling, and working in confined or elevated spaces
Other Considerations
  • Read, interpret instruction and technology, and communicate effectively in English
  • Work alongside the team for long days, evenings, nights, weekends, or holidays
  • Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future

  • Team members must be clean shaven for respiratory protection seals
