Job summary

MRPC is hiring a Production Supervisor for 1st and 3rd shifts in Butler, WI. You will lead daily SQDC execution, coach teams, and coordinate with Engineering, Quality, Maintenance, and Materials to resolve issues. You’ll support machine setup and troubleshooting while maintaining safety and production metrics.

The role requires experience in manufacturing leadership, with emphasis on continuous improvement and standard work across shifts.

Qualifications

• Requires High School Diploma or GED; higher degree preferred in business, engineering or operations.
• 5+ years progressive manufacturing experience, injection molding preferred, with 2+ years in supervision.
• Knowledge of SQDC, 5S, Gemba, standard work, waste reduction and problem solving.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the general supervision of the Production Manager, the Production Supervisor provides hands‑on leadership and direction for assigned shift manufacturing operations. The Supervisor is accountable for daily execution of Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost (SQDC) objectives; develops and engages the workforce; sustains MRPC Manufacturing Excellence systems; and ensures safe, compliant, efficient production that delivers conforming product to customers on time and in full. The Production Supervisor mentors and serves as the escalation point for Team Leads and employees, owns department-level performance metrics, drives continuous improvement, and partners directly with Engineering, Quality, Maintenance, and Materials to resolve complex production issues. The role also provides hands‑on support for machine set‑ups and process troubleshooting when needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Lead daily SQDC execution: communicate shift priorities, review performance at daily accountability meetings, maintain visual management, and elevate abnormalities with clear owners and due dates.
• Safety: enforce safe work practices, required procedures, PPE, and safe product requirements; identify and correct hazards; conduct shift safety observations; and ensure incidents and near misses are reported, contained, and investigated.
• Quality: ensure operators have current work instructions, inspection criteria, approved materials, tools, and training; reinforce the expectation to never accept, make, or pass on defects.
• Delivery: use MES Shop Data, Real Time tools, production schedules, and established priorities to assign labor and equipment, manage constraints, and deliver customer requirements on time and in full.
• Cost: monitor labor productivity, scrap, downtime, efficiency, capacity, material usage, and overhead-related cost drivers; investigate unfavorable variance and implement timely countermeasures.
• Manufacturing Excellence: lead by example through Gemba presence, disciplined daily management, standard work, waste removal, and incremental continual improvement.
• Implement and sustain 5S through defined ownership, routine audits, timely corrective actions, and employee engagement in workplace organization and visual controls.
• Coach Leads and operators in Training Within Industry methods, including Job Instruction, Job Relations, and Job Methods, as applicable; verify training effectiveness and maintain skills-depth documentation.
• Engage employees in improvement ideas and Prosperity Gain projects that remove waste, improve flow, reduce variation, and strengthen safety, quality, delivery, or cost performance.
• Provide timely recognition, coaching, and accountability; support hiring, onboarding, performance reviews, development plans, attendance management, and disciplinary actions in accordance with MRPC policies.
• Perform production work, equipment operation, setup support, or troubleshooting when qualified and needed, without losing focus on shift leadership, escalation, and overall SQDC performance.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• High School Diploma or GED required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field preferred; equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
• 5+ years of progressive manufacturing experience, including injection molding strongly preferred, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or lead role.
• Working knowledge of SQDC, Manufacturing Excellence, 5S, Gemba, visual management, standard work, waste reduction, and structured problem solving.
• Ability to interpret and act on production metrics including safety performance, first-pass yield, scrap, downtime, schedule attainment, labor productivity, efficiency, capacity, and cost variance.
• Experience with MES, Shop Data, ERP, Microsoft Office, or comparable manufacturing information systems.
• Demonstrated leadership, coaching, facilitation, project management, decision‑making, and root cause problem‑solving skills.
• Knowledge of quality systems, MRB and nonconforming material controls, controlled procedures, inspection requirements, and corrective action practices.
• Ability to organize shift priorities, manage multiple demands, make timely escalations, and communicate concise passdown information across functions and shifts.
• Strong interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build accountability and employee engagement.
• Demonstrated success leading Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement initiatives; Lean/Six Sigma certification a plus.
• Working knowledge of ISO quality systems and OSHA safety regulations.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT

• Work is performed primarily on the manufacturing floor and requires standing or walking for extended periods, and the ability to lift up to 35 lbs. occasionally. Exposure to typical manufacturing conditions (noise, moving equipment, and varying temperatures) should be expected; appropriate PPE is required in designated areas.
