Job summary

AMETEK, Paragon Medical, in Mansfield, MA, seeks a Production Supervisor for 1st shift to direct and coordinate the work of production staff to meet customer needs and production goals. You will manage day-to-day production activities, including scheduling, workflows, and throughput, while striving to improve safety, quality, delivery, productivity, and cost.

This role reports to the Plant Manager and requires GMP/ISO/FDA knowledge, strong leadership, and hands-on medical device manufacturing

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 4+ years in a medical device manufacturing environment.
• Knowledge and experience with GMP, ISO, FDA, and other quality standards.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
• Experience in a medical device manufacturing environment.

• Maintains production plan.

We are searching for a Production Supervisor to work 1st shift. In this role you will direct and coordinate the work of production employees to meet customer needs and production goals. You'll manage production processes and staff while ensuring that the processes are efficient and safe. You will manage day-to-day production activities, including but not limited, scheduling, organizing work flows, and monitoring and measuring throughput. You will strive to improve safety, quality, delivery, productivity, and cost.

This position reports to the Plant Manager and will work in our Mansfield, MA location.

Essential Duties And Key Responsibilities

• Supervises the safe operation of all production processes.
• Identifies improvements needed and leads project for implementation. Continually monitors area and solicits feedback from employees.
• Enforce all safety rules and regulations. Is key coordinator/communicator for at least one safety training program for the site.
• Interviews, selects, orients, trains, conduct performance appraisals, performance development, schedules and approves hours and time off requests.
• Provides leadership for employee relations through effective communications, coaching, training and development.
• Executes operational plan to enhance profitability, productivity and efficiency throughout assigned production department(s).
• Work with others to implement Lean Manufacturing techniques to improve quality, cost, on-time delivery, safety, customer satisfaction, employee satisfaction.
• Maintains production plan.
• Ensures compliance with the organization standards for cost control, waste reduction, quality, safety, on-time delivery.
• Ensures compliance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws including OSHA reguluations.
• Provide training and support needed to the team, set goals and objectives.
• Measure team performance for safety, quality, delivery and cost. Work with team to continually improve these measures.
• Arrange for equipment, materials and supplies to be available for work assignments.
• Approve setups and assign operators. Troubleshoot bottleneck operations to determine cause and notify appropriate support for assistance.
• Check work methods and operations to make recommendations for improving quality and implement systems to report and reduce scrap and cost.
• Identify opportunities aimed at continuous improvement of the quality of products and processes. Leads project team during identification through implementation and evaluation.
• Confers with others to coordinate operations and activities across all shifts.
• Demonstrated ability and willingness to use AI tools to improve productivity, decision-making, work quality, and to reduce costs. The successful candidate must be able to identify appropriate AI use cases and critically evaluate AI-generated outputs.
• Other responsibilities as required including, but not limited to, Manufacturing Associate essential duties and responsibilities.

Required

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Minimum of four (4) years of experience in medical device manufacturing environment
• Knowledge and experience with GMP, ISO, FDA, and other quality standards
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
• Experience in a medical device manufacturing environment

Desired

• Associate Degree or higher
• Minimum of 4 years’ experience in a leadership role
• Experience in the setup and operation of manufacturing processes/equipment. Broad experience with components and assembly.
• Knowledge of production and processing and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture of products.

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to work with associates, customers and vendors.
• Detailed technical knowledge of set-up, assembly and testing procedures, normally attained through years of experience.
• Ability to understand and interpret basic manufacturing documentation, i.e.: Bills of Materials (BOMs), routers, etc.
• Ability to implement Kaizen and Lean Manufacturing techniques
• High attention to detail. Ability to think ahead.
• Excellent analytical, project and program management skills
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of changing situations
• Knowledge of human resources and safety to include coaching, performance management, OSHA and related safety standards.
• Ability to think critically and use judgment to identify strengths and weaknesses of solutions to problems presented in production.
• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple/shifting priorities.
• Ability to work under minimal direction and self-motivated.
• Read/write/speak and understand English.
