Job summary

National Signal LLC in California is seeking a Production Supervisor to lead daily trailer assembly operations, ensuring safety, quality, and on-time delivery while driving continuous improvement. Qualifications

  • Conduct training, evaluations, coaching sessions, and disciplinary actions as needed.
  • Foster accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
  • Maintain high morale through effective communication and recognition.
  • Ensure all products meet quality standards and customer specifications.
  • Promote quality at every stage of manufacturing.
  • Promote a strong safety culture and compliance with OSHA regulations.
  • Conduct safety observations and reinforce safe work practices.
  • Investigate accidents and implement preventive measures.
  • Suggest improvements to processes, equipment, workflow, and layout.
  • Support Lean and continuous improvement initiatives; participate in Kaizen events.

Position Summary:

The Production Supervisor is responsible for leading daily manufacturing operations within the trailer assembly department to ensure products are manufactured safely, efficiently, on schedule, and to the highest quality standards. This position provides hands-on leadership to production employees by planning workflow, coordinating resources, monitoring production schedules, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.

The Production Supervisor works closely with Planning, Engineering, Customer Service, and Shipping and Receiving to meet customer expectations while maintaining a safe, productive, and engaged workforce.

Job Duties:
Production & Operations
  • Lead daily operations within the trailer assembly department to achieve production, quality, safety, and delivery objectives.
  • Plan, schedule, and coordinate production activities to meet customer delivery commitments.
  • Monitor production schedules and adjust staffing and priorities as business needs change.
  • Ensure efficient utilization of labor, equipment, materials, and manufacturing resources.
  • Track production metrics and implement corrective actions to improve performance.
  • Identify bottlenecks and proactively resolve production issues to minimize downtime.
Leadership & Team Development
  • Supervise, coach, mentor, and develop production employees to maximize performance and engagement.
  • Conduct employee training, performance evaluations, coaching sessions, and disciplinary actions when appropriate.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, respect, and continuous improvement.
  • Support employee development through cross-training and skills advancement.
  • Maintain high employee morale through effective communication and recognition.
Quality
  • Ensure all products meet National Signal quality standards and customer specifications.
  • Promote quality at every stage of the manufacturing process.
Safety
  • Promote a strong safety culture by ensuring compliance with all company safety policies and OSHA regulations.
  • Conduct regular safety observations and reinforce safe work practices.
  • Ensure employees maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas using good housekeeping practices.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses while implementing preventive measures.
  • Recommend and implement improvements to manufacturing processes, equipment, workflow, plant layout, and material handling.
  • Support Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives that improve productivity, quality, and efficiency.
  • Participate in Kaizen events and other operational improvement projects.
Qualifications:
Required
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Five (5) or more years of manufacturing leadership or production supervision experience.
  • Experience supervising teams in a manufacturing or assembly environment.
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and employee development skills.
  • Excellent organizational, planning, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. Fluent in English is a must.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications and production reporting systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret production schedules, drawings, and work instructions.
Preferred
  • Experience in trailer, heavy equipment, metal fabrication, or industrial manufacturing.
  • Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma experience.
  • ERP/MRP system experience.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) communication skills are a plus.
Physical Requirements
  • Frequently walk throughout the manufacturing facility.
  • Stand for extended periods.
  • Occasionally lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Bend, kneel, climb stairs, and reach as necessary.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, moving machinery, and varying temperatures.
  • Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
