Job summary

Roskam Foods is seeking a Production Supervisor to lead daily production activities, ensuring safety, quality, and efficiency. You will coordinate with maintenance, sanitation, shipping, and quality teams while driving continuous improvement and personnel development.

The role emphasizes supervision, scheduling, training, and adherence to standards to meet performance targets for the shift. A strong safety focus and teamwork are essential to success.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 6 months of supervisory experience in a food manufacturing environment.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office.
  • Able to lift 50 lbs and stand for long periods.

Job description

As the Production Supervisor
  • Understand company goals, develop plans and tactics to deliver key performance indicators and operational productivity within his shift.
  • Actively participate in production line capacity analysis to allow for accurate standards.
  • Ensure accurate production performance reporting.
  • Evaluate processes and procedures and propose improvement ideas.
  • Partner with the site maintenance, sanitation, shipping, and quality departments for ongoing production needs.
  • Lead employee safety and food safety programs, fostering a strong culture within the department.
  • Engage production employees at all levels toward performance, efficiency, and continuous improvement.
  • Capture continuous improvement ideas through open and professional communication with production employees and department peers.
  • Identify skills gaps across the team and implement training initiatives to develop employees, build expertise, and close gaps.
  • Manage and control labor allocation following established standards, focusing on changeovers, overtime, scheduling, and crew rotations.
  • Manage and control material losses, including waste, scrap, usage, cycles, and product overweight.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, uncluttered, and safe work environment, ready for safety, food safety, and customer quality audits.
  • Participate in selection processes of new hires for the shift, ensuring proper training.
Required Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • 6 months+ in a food manufacturing environment with supervisory experience strongly preferred.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite.
  • Able to safely move and work around moving equipment and in a variety of conditions, including standing for long periods of time.
  • Able to lift 50 lbs.
Language Skills Requirements
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English fluently; multilingual is a plus.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers, and other outside agencies as needed.
