Job description

The Production Supervisor shall be responsible for health, safety and environmental aspects of the work environment, product quality, production attainment, training, performance and corrective action of assigned team. This person will be responsible for leading and directing a multi-functional team engaged in the manufacture and delivery of company products. The Production Supervisor will promote total employee involvement through team building and accountability, training and skill development, safety and quality focus, on time delivery of product, and continuous improvement activities, resulting in overall customer satisfaction. Additionally, the Production Supervisor will be responsible for the facilitation, implementation and operation of the World Class Manufacturing Cadence.

Responsibilities

  • Shall adhere to all safety, health and environmental procedures, policies and practices such as; utilizing personal protective equipment and proper attire in keeping with safety standards.
  • Comply with all QMS / EMS / ISO procedures and work instructions as it pertains to the position description.
  • Support the company’s commitment to maintain a safe workplace and to protect the environment by utilizing personal protective equipment and proper attire in keeping with safety standards while adhering to company policy and OSHA regulations.
  • Ensures all products meet defined quality specifications.
  • Updates Shift Startup Sheets and gives to all Team Leaders.
  • Achieves daily production attainment by assigning team members, establishing priorities, monitoring progress, resolving problems, and reporting results of processing flow on shift summary reports.
  • Develop competencies with their team, particularly Team Leaders, focusing on; skill development and continuous manufacturing process improvements, develop an understanding of the overall business objectives and problem solving.
  • Enforce all corporate and plant policies and procedures to provide fair and equitable treatment for all team members.
  • Assist in implementing Employee Involvement suggestions and encourage a self-directed workforce.
  • Shall efficiently plan and complete simultaneous projects and seek continuous improvement ideas and solutions
  • Participates in Lean Manufacturing planning and execution activities, maximizing use of Kanban/Pull System.
  • Ensures housekeeping supplies are stocked within assigned areas and logs 5S scores in the database.
  • Ensure team members are properly trained and that all initial and ongoing training objectives are met for assigned team members.
  • Develop, implement and maintain communication and feedback between, Production Supervisor and Team Leader, Peer Supervisors, and other Business Units.
  • Prioritize and coordinate daily activities for indirect labor staff, including Team Leaders, Mold Technicians, Material Handlers, and Maintenance personnel.
  • Ensures Lean principles and standard work are followed.
  • Responsible for the maintenance of Kiosk Boards in accordance with the Manufacturing Cadence.
  • Addresses Fixture Validation Reset Issues as needed by Team Leader Escalation.
  • Responsible for addressing Andon Light Issues (Equipment Down, Quality or Material Issues) and use the Escalation Process as appropriate.
  • Conduct Layered Process Audits within assigned area on a weekly basis.
Qualifications
  • At least 5 years of experience in automotive assembly and metal fabrication processes.
  • Advanced computer skills, including P.C. knowledge and MS Excel, Project, PowerPoint and Word proficiency.
  • Problem Solving Capabilities – both numerical and mechanical reasoning.
  • Advanced technical knowledge of relevant manufacturing processes such as: injection molding, extrusion, fabrication, metal roll-forming.
  • Knowledge of product, raw material and resins.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing Concepts and Principles – Toyota Production System along with 5S, Kanban Systems, Kaizen Improvement Process, waste identification and reduction, standardized work process and good ergonomic practices.
